Default North American version of 2011 Mazda2 will get upgraded interior

Quote:
Mazda said today the it will install new upgrade features on the North American version of the 2011 Mazda2 this fall. The manufacturer revealed today the interior of the five-door hatchback at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto today and compared to the European version, the North America model will get an upgraded audio head unit, higher-grade climate control knobs, and seats with higher-grade fabric as well as stylish piping. Unfortunately the pricing of the new car was not released yet but this will be announced closer to the launch date

Here I will help:

Mazda had to do this for the 2 in order to remain competitive with the Fiesta, Fit, and upcoming 500, and Polo.

I didn't know it was so bland and low quality inside. I think Fiesta wins in this department, wondering what the interior of the US 500 will look like.

I like the 'Civic SI' style shifter. Swap the speedo and tach positions and it makes it real business like. I don't like tons of buttons or distractions.

I think it looks pretty well done for a car in that segment.

Even in red that screen to the right of the speedo could get irritating at night. Unless there's some way to turn it off.

It's funny though, lately there seems to be a trend moving away from it on some models. The new Legacy springs to mind. Had an integrated stereo before now it has one that can easily be swapped out with the appropriate dash kit.
