Default Hennessey VelociRaptor 500 based on Ford F150 Raptor [Video]

Quote:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/11002112...0-raptor-video

Texas-based tuners Hennessey Performance Engineering have a new package for the Ford F150 SVT Raptor. The Hennessey VelociRaptor 500 managed to finish the quarter-mile in 14.09 seconds at 97 mph.

The testing took place near HPE headquarters in Sealy at the Lonestar Motorsports Park.

Company engineers brought the 5.4-liter V8 engine up to 501 hp (374 kW) and 520 ft-lb (705 Nm) of torque by adjusting the ECU, installing a Whipple supercharger and a K&N intake. Tuning the fuel injectors and exhaust also helped the truck's performance. 0-60mph is now set at 5.6 seconds, down nearly three full seconds from the stock vehicle.

100 units of the Hennessey VelociRaptor 500 kits will be produced this year. The package retails for $10,950, with an additional cost of over $4k to have HPE install the kit.
Too bad they didn't modify the bland interior as well.

Awsome.. I'm going to start selling "Faster than a Hennessey VelociRaptor" bumper stickers for owners of stock STIs and '09 WRXs.

$15,000 for that?

You do realise this is a big/heavy (but very good offroad) truck and not a track car right?

For the record: this truck isn't made to be a 1/4 mile demon

For the record # 2: that Hennessey Kit is Way too much $$$ for what you get

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/08...vt-raptor.html

Quote:
If you still associate “SVT” with the old supercharged Ford SVT Lightning F-150 high-performance street pickup, getting the 5,800 pound Raptor up to speed on the road may require some patience. The three-valve, 310-horsepower, 365-pounds-feet-of-torque 5.4-liter V-8 took 8.8 seconds to go from zero to 60 mph in two-wheel drive, according to instrumented testing with the VBOX we brought along. That’s with the truck’s launch-optimized 4.10 rear axle, though that low final-drive ratio is somewhat negated by the Raptor’s very tall 35-inch tires.
Winning traffic light races isn’t the reason you buy a Raptor, but if power is a priority you might want to consider purchasing a Raptor with the 5.4-liter engine and adding a proven Roush supercharger. The truck will certainly benefit from the extra 90 or so horsepower that Ford’s new naturally aspirated 400 hp / 400 lbs.-ft. of torque 6.2-liter premium V-8 will offer when it becomes available by February 2010, for an extra $3,000.

A perfect waste for the name VelociRaptor. You knew it was coming, you just hoped it lived up to the name...

Agreed with what was said above though, it's not meant to be a speed demon. Wouldn't mind seeing it tear up some off-road course.

While I agree that Hennessey can burn and $15k is absurd, the only thing the Raptor needs is moar power. I love that thing so much.

Dear god... did I just say I love a Ford... Truck?

I got confused by the company famous for making 1000hp Vipers (and never returning them to their clientele) showing off their new creation at a drag strip.

My bad.

Performance mods are wasted on trucks, which are meant for hauling people's crap.

Guys on the Tundra forums regularly hit low 14's with an intake and exhaust.
http://www.dragtimes.com/Toyota-Tund...lip-19160.html - 14.06 @ 96mph.

Add a blower, and they're in the low 13's, and high 12's with a good driver and some headers.
Definately not $15,000 worth of mods.

You also need to take factors like weight and gearing into consideration when comparing the Tundra and Raptor. Perhaps the Raptor pickup weighs more? If you have seen one of these things in person, everything on them looks chunky.. and heavy... but then again, it was built to take a beating off road..

If Hennessey made a package, I'm sure they'd find a way to charge 15k for it though.

Take a beating off-road?

laughable.
This truck would snap a tie rod in the first five minutes of off-roading. It's a 5800lb piece of trash with soft leaf springs, some fancy shocks, and typical Ford under engineered brakes. They even have added dampers on the rear, floating, single piston calipers to quell vibrations. Sure beats proper engineering, doesn't it...

Did you know that the Raptor has an average weight of around 6000lbs with fluids? And a gvw of 6950 lbs?

That leaves less than 1000lbs of carrying capability. This embarrassment can't even fit 4 average Americans unless they leave their stuff at home. Two buddies couldn't carry a pair of dirtbikes with this truck without going over it's GVW.

In their defense, it would include cool decals.

funny you should mention this not being able to take a beating. I had one of these come into work about 3 weeks ago (i work for a ford dealer), customer was complaining that there was a clunk in the drivers front over bumps. put it up in the air, checked the front end out for the usual suspects. after a couple minutes i look at the front strut....

the upper part of the strut where it goes through the strut mount had broken. the strut snapped and went through the side of the upper strut mount and was hitting the strut tower. truck has 5800 miles on it. i couldnt believe it when i saw it. i took some crappy cell phone pics...ill post them later.

this truck is a joke.

Henessey is a ****ing crook. I can't wait for people to put deposits on their cars only to find them stripped and parts sold.

The Raptor is going to get the 6.2L 400ish HP v8 in the near future too. Wait for that.
