Some eBay store called azoffroadperformance that sold them. The company that makes it is called Rigid Industries, they have a site and you can check out their different lights. I did the eBay seller because of the best offer option, but I wouldn't recommend asking for the item at more than 10% off their listed price, they'll just decline the offer without a counter offering.

Has anybody thought about making some sort of servo operated hinge that could move the hella 500 light covers out of the wAy when you turn them on?
I like the look and protection That the hella covers offer. But I don't like that I have to get out of the car and take off the covers before turning them on.
Has anyone tried or seen anything like this?
I'm real interested in trying This out.

Maybe a sliding panel of fiberglass or other thin material could slide into the area around where the foglights are mounted?

Or you could just go with clear covers that do not have to be removed?

Amazon.com: Hella 500 Series Clear Cover: AutomotiveAmazon.com: Hella 500 Series Clear Cover: Automotive

This is what I use on my Hella 4000's

Problems with the clear cover though would be that the heat might build up when the lights are on, and some states require that offroad lights are covered with "not clear" covers.

True on the states rules - I can run 2 additional lights without problems as long as they cannot be independently turned on. I have they wired into the high beam lights through relays

I am running Hella 4000's with 130 W bulbs and have no problems with heat build up. I have used them for a couple of hours and both the lights and the covers are fine.

I had Hella 500's with clear covers on my 4Runner for 5+ years without problems - just needed a touch up with a lens deglazer every couple of years
