![]() ![]() Basic Cobb OTS vs Jorge's "VERY Conservative" custom map Look at that torque curve. INSTANT kick. Significant improvement in throttle response, whp, and a little extra max torque. Yet, as you can tell torque comes on MUCH sooner. The area under power is just amazing and all just from a downpipe. I couldn't believe it. Higher numbers than my VF48 05 WRX in all areas with ALL supporting mods. Just imagine this car with Perrin TMIC, Avo Fuel Pump, Bigger Injectors and 3" ALL the way back...now we're talking.Last edited by gigabytexbc; 02-13-2010 at 04:51 AM. |

yea...i absolutely love the 2.5L. driving it around honestly feels like a much more power engine as my dad has a mustang and vette and i was always jealous of how easy they both are in traffic. i love that i didn't have to upgrade anything and it's perfectly quiet to. just want a perrin boost gauge now to fit in the dash and some other little goodies but i think i'll stay here for a while
. oh, like yesterday, i went to ikea was able to fit all my furniture boxes in, had 2 people in the car, easily 500lbs extra and it still drove nice. my old setup, you get 2 people in the car it felt like a pig. |

hmm.. that curve looks awfully familiar....
Jorge also was able to get peak torque by 3000rpm on my 2005 STi w/ a pretty extensive stage 2 setup. I went from a vf48 ej205 WRX to an STi.. and I agree with the OP's statement. Having all that torque down low is great; especially for city driving. |

ohh no kidding, you know how chicago is. no rules at all and you HAVE to drive like an a**hole just to get around. so, usable power is what i was after, it's a freakin beast and i love that i kept it quiet. i wonder how much a catback would have added...

but i kept asking Jorge...how good are the OTS stage 2 maps? he said depends of course. i have yet to really see a baseline for an ots so, i basically said, have any tuning sessions. sure enough, did so i figured ehhh wth right haha. i mean, look at the difference i was astounded as was he.

I wanted to wait until my warranty (60,000 miles) is up on my '10 hatchback before any serious mods. I'm at 1200 miles. This isn't helping my resolve

Good job on those numbers, Giga.. I believe Perrin's Stage 2 map is rated at 280whp at 18psi (two more psi than your tune!). Take it to the track and see what kind of numbers you pull!

well, i thought the same thing but the mod bug bit me and my last car was highly modded. i bought an extended warranty for 1k that refinishes the paint every 6 months, takes out door dings etc... and i said straight out "no point because i plan on modding the car i'm not going to lie". said exactly that, they said, "we don't care we're mod friendly" haha. yes, i understand though i want to keep it as stock as possible. i'm telling you man, just get a good deal on the forums for the AP, get the invidia downpipe on ebay google shop it for the best price, install and tune, DONE. oh, and the k&n drop in can't hurt it's what $50. just DON'T lose a MAF screw(don't worry got it replaced) but i did it while intoxicated that's how easy it was ha. just keep the downpipe etc... so if you want to go back to stock, it's a couple bolts untune and DONE. i learned my lesson from my last car, upgraded full suspension etc... injectors, fuel pump everything. not worth it. at least not for me. i mean JUST LOOK at the air/fuel ratio vs the cobb ots, it was spitting out richness ha. now it lost and a little fat and is much leaner yet safe.

why thank you, thanks to your videos and the impressment it gave me i went with it haha. now time to make some videos of my own, hey, it's quiet so "it's stock". really? 18psi eh...haha i LOVE it. i'm going to wait until it starts warming up and probably get a perrin TMIC since idk, the stock one just seems a TAD small to me. plus summer gas in chicago is a little better and i'll just get another tune done, why not? after all. yea i plan on going to the track, we're going to make it a family day my aunt just bought a new mustang gt her husband a challenger. my dad with his 07 vette and i'll take my car. should be a fun time just waiting for it to open and winter to end.

lmao you're going to beat all THREE Of those vehicles.. as long as the Vetter isn't a Z06 or ZR1 lol. I'm proud to know people are watching the videos.. I'm actually in the process of uploading one right now lol. Glad you're happy with your car.. it seems the mod bug tends to bite everyone.. and I know what you mean about heavily modifying another car! I sank 20k into my Celica GT-S and still didn't get all of the kinks worked out of it.. But I do miss that 2860 dual ball bearing turbo!

oh god haha, and no it's a stock 2007 C6 my dad likes to keep his cars stock...for some odd reason but hey let's face it "the vette, gets em wet". but yes i love your videos esp. the gti one which is how i found it because an apr stage 2 handed my ass to me on the highway with my old car.

There is an APR stage 2 GTi roaming the streets.. I called him out and told him to bring out his Ford Lightning so I can run them.. but he makes excuses everytime.. so I doubt I'll ever get the luxury to run against one of those..

If you're satisfied w/ your setup, just leave it the way it is. As Jorge would say, "sometimes less is more." Then if you decide you want to go bigger, you won't have to worry about conflicting mods and reselling parts for a fraction of the price you paid. |

yea...this thing was a beast i mean, instant pull on my vf48 2.0L because i mean they make INSTANT power which mine does now
but i was so impressed. to bad he won't run you though i'd be VERY curious. i want to call that guy up again he's my buddy on facebook...lost his number though when i had my phone fixed oh well. i KNOW he'd go for a run he's all about fun. this was highway speeds 65+. i also enjoyed your ms3 videos that was a deciding factor for me haha because it was actually ms3 vs wrx for me on which to get. well, ms3 just felt to cheap for me on the inside and i'm a subie fan...so makes sense. went out tonight, not a single bite. lame |

you're exactly right and Jorge has always told me that. if you're happy with your car that's all that matters and he makes it safe. i'm very happy actually, i DO somewhat miss the boxer rumble now but it's cool to just hear the sucking of the turbo slightly and nothing else. doesn't attract attention. for ego purposes i would like to hit 300 whp but that's a MAYBE i'll stick where i am for a while now and do some creature comfort mods aka sound, things of that nature.

Thats impressive. I'm interested to hear how it sounds. Did the downpipe make it louder?

if only these wrx's came with a 6 speed. it would be money all day. you drop it like its hot with that much torque and your tranny will self destruct....gotta love the 09 though. it will probably be my next weapon of choice

oh you're 100% correct. my last car got new clutch put in after 80k miles, it was an ACT streetlight clutch. my last car made peak 275ftlb but at 3600rpm. let my friend drive it, 1st to 2nd he dropped it HARD and BOOM worst sound i have ever heard in my life. i let him drive my car when i got it like a week later still shifts the same way i had to explain to him, this isn't your VW gti, you have to be a tad gentle haha.
