Post Scca notice

Yo Suby Gang! Here's the lastest scoopage...the State is cracking down on our usage of the Barber's Point site. We've been getting complaints ranging from 1). the front gate is left unsecured and unmanned, 2). people have been parking in "off limits" areas (the containers), 3). we are collecting admission and therefore our "non-profit" status is being scrutinized, 4). we are doing "burnouts" (?). We already were adressing the parking issue from last month. Lindsey has been frantically delivering tax statements and documents to the State/D.O.T. office saving our 14th date but losing the driving school date we were supposed to have this past Sunday. The "admissions" issue has not yet been resolved. The "burnouts" are possibly the extra curricular stuff during our "fun runs" and most definately the "tire-melting" session we had last month after everyone had left. Lindsey explained that one off as an "excersize in vehicle slide control" or something like that! It would appear from this pessimists view that the State is getting complaints from the airplane museum folks and are in the process of ejecting us from the premisses. Maybe, maybe not. There will be some changes implemented from this Sunday on...1). parking will be probably more restricted-TBA, 2). there will be no more "vehicle slide control" excercises, 3). "fun runs" will only be available to those that have competed in the days event, 4). gates may be locked during heats 1&2, and heats 3&4, with entry/exit allowed only for emergency, & 5). spectator parking will be separate from racer parking. Expect other changes as things develop.

Thanks for your cooperation with these issues...please come early on Sunday, looks like registration will be held from 8:30am-10:30am and again at lunch break.

Please let your friends & guests know about these expected changes.

Thumbs up

On the "easy in, easy out" thing I agree! But if you weigh that against not racing there at all, I'll take the lock down.

Unhappy

I believe it is the action of a few, uneducated individuals that want the area to themselves. My uncle is Ops Manager at the airport and works with people from the various airfields across the State (Dillingham, Honolulu Int'l and also Kalaloa). If these people from the aircraft museum as well as the pilots that were moved to our racing area are anything like those at other airfields, I can tell you that they are just trying to start issues to move us out. Granted, there have been instances where there have been accidents (the child bing injured and being unattended, and the retards that were riding on the hoods of their cars), but for the most part, they are nitpicking. The portion of the tarmac we are using turns into a damn racetrack for Christ's sake! Has nyone seen Daytona or Indianapolis without tire marks? This is utterly rediculous.

Talking

You've hit the nail right on Cliff! We will attempt to "play the games" with them for the sake of using the tarmac, but yes, they may just be documenting stuff so that they can boot us without any problems. We shall see...

You can lock the gate. You can restrict the parking. You can move us around. No matter where its at. How hard it is to get to. Or how many people complain. Im still going... See ya on Sunday...

Gates open at 8-8:30am. Registration starts at 8:30am-10:30am or when drivers' meeting starts. Gates to be locked uopn start of 1st heat and will remain locked until completion of 2nd heat (lunch time). Upon start of 3rd heat, gates will be locked again and reopened at the end of 4th heat. Gates may or may not be locked again during "fun runs"-there may be a 1/2 hour wait to let people go home first. Seeing that this Sunday is the first time for the gate rules, they will not be totally inforced, but expect them to be. The latest info is that our continued use will be very much contingent on how well
we do this Sunday! Yes, IT IS A TEST!
