Default EJ22 Still misfires badly

So I replaced my plugs twice, got new NGK blue wires, new MAF, new coilpack yet my engine still misfires badly to the point it stalls quickly!

I'm out of ideas, can anyone help me?

ahh, the shotgun approach. Shoot parts at it and see if they fix it.

I would take it somewhere and tell them not to call you until they figure it out

Is the check engine light on? If it is go to Autozone and have the codes pulled.

When you checked the spark plugs were any of them black and oily?

I had a misfire that turned out to be a burnt valve, a big chunk was missing out of the valve and the cylinder had no compression at all. Easy way to check for a burnt valve is to put a piece of paper up to the exhaust pipe. If the paper flutters like the exhaust pipe is trying to suck it in you have a burnt valve.

typically issues that have a sudden onset are electrical related. Is the alternator putting out enough juice? is the battery ok? does this happen when warmed up? cold?

have you checked all the grounds?

Have you checked the O2 sensors on the both of the cats? Maybe one of them or both of them are bad? I have heard that if just one of these are bad it can cause this type of problem or at least be part of the problem. So I would have those checked if you haven't already

I will be replacing my O2 Sensor tomorow with a brand new OEM one.

ok there are a few things that are confusing me.

My new wires are all 4K ohms resistance where as subaru spec calls for 6-12K, is this bad?

Also for my plugs are the proper ones BKR6E or BKR6E-11?

I'll ask again. Any check engine lights? Have you had them read? You should probably stop replacing parts semi randomly, thats a good way of wasting money.

Why do you think it has a misfire? What are the symptoms?

unplug it and see if it does anything. Also, your PCV looks pretty dirty, you might consider cleaning/changing that.

ok so I took out my PCV valve and it was completely gummed up, tried shaking it and I couldnt hear anything so I guess its toast.

Also the vaccum line that goes from the PCV valve onto some black pplastic thing that then goes into the rear of the block, should I try and take that off and clean it out too?

check your crank position sensor and the cam position sensor, sounds like an issue I had when I brought my car to subaru and they forgot to plug the cas back in.

I just took off the conectors and cleaned them, should I try and take the actual sensors out as well?

That sounds fine. Its more important that the cylinders all have similar compression (within 5-10%) than the actual PSI number. You can search around but I know that things like cold or hot engine, and open or closed throttle affect the number.

Have you checked the fuel system yet? Pump, filter, injectors. I don't know the actual checkout procedures, but I am sure someone else does.

my MAF was a used one from a forester.

so I threw in new plugs and it ran ok for like 5min, I even drove it around the block and did a couple of WOT pulls in 2nd gear. Parked it back and it started sputtering and died, started it again and it died, started again and still it died. so I started it once more and kept the revs up but it was misfiring like crazy.

Pulled out the plug for cyl #1 and heres what it looks like.

Also saw a little coolant here, my coolant resevoir hasnt gone down and its nowhere near the headgasket so i'm guessing its not causing any problems?

My brother in law is having a similar problem on a 2003 legacy with a 4 cyl. When he pulled the spark plugs they had oil on them. He changed them and the car ran much better, but it is now back to running like junk again and he says now it won't start.

get that coolant leak fixed. looks like it's from the crossover pipe(or throttle body).

Is that oil on the spark plug? It's hard to tell. If so, there are only a couple of places to come from. Rings, head gasket, valve seals. Since you have good compression, that rules out rings and head gasket. Which leaves valve seals.

I'm stumped on just one cylinder causing the whole engine to not want to idle. Whatever happened with that white solenoid?

pulled all the plugs and they all looked teh same.

That white solenoid was the IAC motor and its working fine.

I'm about to scrap this car cause I really cannot find whats wrong
