Default 2008 Impreza: Problems Running Alpine KTP-445 Inline Amp from Stock HU

Well there is not much - if any - information on this topic so I hopefully this will solve some questions for others. I know this isn't the best way to go about upgrading a stereo but I really just wanted to keep the stock HU until I can afford a nice nav unit. That's where I decided to purchase the KTP-445 and try to rewire it with Subaru harness connections.

I am installing an Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack (inline amp) to my stock HU and upgraded speakers in a 2008 Impreza. I am hacking the stock subwoofer harness to add in the unit. Everything looks great on paper but when plugging it in I get no sound, though I do get proper function from the head unit.

I did bypass the Illumination/Dimmer wires from the power pack and ran them straight to the harness that plugs into the back of the HU. Could that cause the power pack to not power on? I have heard that the power pack requires a 15A 12v power circuit, but I find it hard to beleive that it is a power issue.

If I plug in the stock harness to the back of the HU I have sound...So something is going on between the HU and the Amp delivering signal to the speakers. Any thoughts or insights on the matter would be much appreciated! Thanks

not sure if this helps, but i was going to add a sub using a line converter and tapped into the sub hu harness, all i got was distortion, disconnected it and everything was fine, might be something to do with sub harness.

Just came across this since my buddy is thinking of using one of these for his new install, not an alpine deck.

I would just forget the sub harness and buy 2 stereo harnesses, reverse and standard oem stereo harnesses. From that cut into the alpine unit and wire in these two. Should be pretty simple.

Same problem here... on a JVC headunit. Any thoughts?

EDIT:

(9 hours later)

Realized I was TOO careful about matching up the "correct" wirings after chopping off the Alpine harnesses on the KTP-445. Since the Suby doesn't have a power antennae you are supposed to use that blue connection with the "remote on" (blue with white stripe) wires from the AMP for power. Now dimming works, hu works, and most importantly... I get sound through the speakers.

Sounds pretty good. Nothing mind blowing... but happy with the set-up. May eventually work on sound deadening some door panels but doubt it......

Just gotta figure out where to mount the little thing now.

Pretty cool that you figured out. Did the OP figure out the issue?

Hmm, always wondered if this was possible, never actually did it in our bay yet, good to know that this is possible. Kudos.
