Default Citroen DS3 Racing Revealed *Merged*

Quote:
This is the Citroen DS3 Racing, a hot version of the forthcoming Mini John Cooper Works rival.

The car, now officially confirmed by Citroen and set to be unveiled at the Geneva motor show next month, is lower and has higher-performance brakes than the standard car after an extensive makeover from Citroen's Racing department. It will go on sale later this year limited to just 1000 units.
See the Citroen DS3 Racing pics

It is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, which produces 197bhp and 203lb ft. Citroen Racing has achieved these gains by tuning the turbocharger, remapping the ECU and adding a new sports exhaust system.

Citroen Racing has also fitted stiffer suspension springs, new front and rear shock absorbers, widened the rear tracks by 30mm and lowered the car by 15mm. Special brakes have also been fitted, while the ESP and steering have also both been tuned to improve the car's handling.

Styling upgrades include a new lower body trim and wing extensions, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome trim on the door handles and exhaust tip, and special chequered graphics on the roof.

Inside, it gets carbon trim on the dashboard, centre console and steering wheel, while the vibrant orange theme from the outside features on the dash and gearknob.

Citroen is known to want to leverage its success in the World Rally Championship more effectively, and with its future World rally Car set to be based on the DS3, a hot model is logical. Citroen Racing is currently responsible for providing the cars for Citroen's WRC effort.

It would look great if all the orange were a less garish color, maybe like flat black.

Is Citroen owned by VW, by chance?

I like everything about it, except that I can't have it, and that its apparently FWD (the WRC C4's are AWD correct?), and therefore a cheap imitation knock off race car.

under powered, and with a 1000 unit limit, probably over priced.

I think they added to much orange... The grill looks nice, but the wheels and roof scream ricey. The mirrors do not seem bad though, also that dash is terrible ahaha. Whatever i am sure plenty of people will buy them over in Europe and think they are the next Loeb

Since it's the basis of Citroen's next WRC car they won't be far off. Plus it's a damn sight sportier than any regularly available Xsara or C4 has been.

Gray on gray looks dope... I've been really diggin' French designed cars lately. Specifcally, Peugeot and the Renault Megane'.

Exactly ! It's probably one of the sportiest looking production Citroen that we've seen in a long while. There were sporty version of the Saxo (labeled "Saxo VTR" in France), but, that's old. In recent memory, I can't recall any sporty looking production Citroen.

Interesting, the front looks like a porsche suv and, the back looks like the back of a wrx wagon.

I like the overall design, but the orange it too much for me. As others stated, a different, more subtle color would make it look much better and less like bunch of different accents/ideas crammed into one little car.

I have to agree with most that it's great, minus the excessive use of the orange. I wonder if Loeb will have all that orange in his WRC car next year (he asks sarcastically...)??

I'm not really a big fan of the wheels, either.
