DAMN! boy thats a lot of power for a VF39 thats like 20-30whp more than me

If downsti beat tuned GTRs with 341whp imagine what you can do?

how much boost are you running? how much timing at redline and peak torque? and are you running stock spark plugs? Stock tranny?

Sweet! congrats

He has RA gears in there but with this kind of torque even those are at risk.

This is yet again the most power I've seen to date out of a VF turbo

Ah... this is a VF43, its running about 23psi peak boost and its holding 18psi to redline. This is the most boost I've seen a VF turbo hold at redline.

The timing curve is relatively mild partly because its an 07 WRX. Its running 15.5* at torque peak and just touches 26* by 7k RPM.

One other thing I'll note is how great these DW 1000cc injectors run! I could actually get them to idle very smoothly around 800RPM and the drivability and consistency is excellent all around.

Thanks

Holding 18psi holy crap!
I can barley get 16psi on most! did the timing not make anymore power or did you just decide not to push it for safety reason since it's the 07?
Amazing Ed how you seem to get more power out of these as you continue to tune the VF 39/43

Weird... thats mild..

I guess the road was downhill and with some strong wind behind. jK.

Its mild relative to an STI's timing curve. The 2.5l WRX's always take less advance to make the same power... nothing new there . I believe this has to do with the cams more than anything else.

And FYI, the road is totally flat and no wind that day. We did pulls in both directions and the results were within 1-2whp.

Thanks

You're also at elevation . No way this would have held 18psi to redline up in reno.

We stopped because more timing was not making much more power (remember the diminishing returns part of your lesson ). The customer also didn't want the tune on the ragged edge so we kept it away from any sort of knock threshold.

Thanks

because of the higher compression....
What do you mean by the cams? 06-07 WRX cams are exactly the same as the STi cams

Ed. Do you recommend ngk 1 step colder plugs for your E85 customers? I noticed Downsti and E85 WRX are running the same plugs. Is it one of your power secrets ?

No secrets and its not something I specifically recommended to them. I haven't tried running the stock heat range plugs on E85, so I'm not sure if it would make a significant difference.

The differences in advance are due to the higher comp ratio and combustion chamber design.
