For the cost of a CAI versus benefit on an atmospheric engine I'm not sure it's worth it...
Having said that it does sound nice and makes throttle response oh so crisp |

It will do nothing for your hp/torque numbers. Your STOCK intake more that enough air for your STOCK motor. All it will do is hurt your wallet, let more crap into your motor because it has bigger holes in it hence the reason why it flows better, and finally depending on you local smog requirements you may fail. Do not do it. Keep the money and buy some suspension parts you will be much happier with those instead of a CAI.

You will get better low end performance, but minimally with a real dyno. The butt dyno will seem higher because of the noise you will hear.
The performance of the part doesn't justify the cost of the part, but to each their own. Just follow the cleaning procedures of the filter. It will have a grunt when you stomp on it. Last edited by TEK112; 02-21-2010 at 01:50 AM. |

Quote:
1.) The K&N Intake is 50 state legal 2.) Dynos have shown a 14.9HP increase over stock 3.) It sucks in more air because the cone can suck in air from 360 degrees rather than the 2" diameter port hole the vehicle currently has. Now, I do agree that the money would better be spent elsewhere, but don't go spreading misinformation about how this product will hurt an engine because of the "bigger holes." |

Depends on how you look at it. Up until 3k, yes you will lose power WOT. Minimally. But, still dyno less. However, jap cars are useless below 3k, regardless. That is why I say you will gain low end, because when the car starts to make power, shy side of 4k, your gain is noticeably more low end than before. I consider low end on jap cars and most other 4 bangers to be 3kish. Unlike my S4 where low end power meant 1850rpms. See what I mean? |
