Default The "You should Know" Thread

Did you know that several companies such as Cusco,Blitz,Tein,HKS and such do not allow any offshore distribution to any US dealers mainly because they authorize and single out distributors to be their sole suppliers here in the USA?

Why is this.....

The main reason being that if a warranty issue arrises the companies refuse to warranty the products that were puchased outside the US.Most of these companies will state this directly on their sites!!

Now why do I say this...

Several or perhaps a few vendors have access to these offshore distributors and due to the great savings they can get by importing these items themselves they are bringing them in.

What does this mean to you...

Just like car audio equipment, you get NO WARRATY on offshore products. If you contact the manufacturer they will tell you to ask the person you bought it from.In most cases, those dealers will attempt to do their own repairs.

So what does this all mean..

Buyer beware!!! If it sounds too good to be true,it usually is.

Never trade customer service for a few dollars.

Hrm... sounds an awful lot like what Alex (Imprezer) was trying to get across by not allowing vendors who buy from questionable sources to sell on the Iclub. People nearly tied him to a stake and burned him in that thread... hope you fare better . People don't seem to like to hear bad news around here ! Fact of the matter is, you are 100% correct. You cannot return products to many manufacturer's, only to their licensed resellers, who in turn take care of the exchange/refund on behalf of you and the manufacturer.

It doesn't bother me ,I learned my lesson thru car audio.I would just make sure on Alex's part that everyone knows he has no responsability for who sells on I-club.

It must be remembered that because the vendors are now paying for a membership to sell here, the club can be held responsible for what is sold by vendors, and its obvious who the questionable vendors are.

That makes sense to me, it is more commonly stated with car audio vendors however. Good post, people need to understand this! Importing anything and then expecting support from the manufacturer can be a headache for both the consumer and the manufacturer.
