Potential Install Party?

I'm having trouble getting people to respond to their PM, which is weird since I was offering to pay... So I figured I would try this.

By the end of the week I will have all the parts for;

-Timing belt change (got the kit)
-Fluid change (oil, trans, diff, brake, coolant, etc..
-plugs
-New rad. hoses, etc...

I also bought some new low profile ratchets, a breaker bar, and some badly needed extensions.

I know I can knock out the plugs/fluids (for the most part) by myself, But I figured it would be more fun to see if any of you would want to partake?

Figured I would buy some beer/pizza for those who wish to attend.
Heck, I could also show off my new kiddo who will be here in just days!

This prolly would not happen till some time next week, Maybe a Fri. or Sat night?

I have stands but could use other tools.
-Something to remove the crank pully?
-A decent jack, mine are leaking and just aren't safe anymore.
-Might need some larger sockets, like the 22mm - I've been reading a hardened one is best?
-Anything else you guys can think of? Anyone change the timing belt before? lol

I am also toying with upgrading to SS lines -
If anyone has a good source/price? Please let me know.

I'm in Surprise by Bell/303 - I know its a drive for some, but hey it might be fun.

General Update:
Start Time is still 09:00. Looks like we will have two timing belts to knock out, SS Lines to install, etc..
Address has been PM'd to those attending.
If anyone else wants in, Let me know now!

I have a few tools, and some stands.
Need a jack or two - Mine are shot.
Also need some sockets as most of mine are MIA.

I think an install party is a sweet idea seeing as how I've been way too busy to do anymore outside work for a while.

just a question, how many miles are on your 07 to already be doing a timing belt? when are you planning on doing this?

Yeah, I sent one out to a few diff. people. I figured you would be busy and frankly I didn't want to push it as I know you go 50 diff. directions at once.

Shes right around 52K to 53K.
I know most people will either knock out the TBelt at either 60K or 100K - But after reading several diff. forums where people got 300K+ out of their engine, I'd like to do it every 60k.
Yes, Doing it now is early. But shes running sluggish as is - so all this work should perk her up. (I hope)

As for when;
It will have to be after the baby gets here. I'm thinking next week, maybe on a Friday or Sat. Night? (More people should be free then?)
I am more than willing to host, but I am on the far West Side and my tool supply is sad to say the least.
I will still get beer/pizza though - should someone else wish to host.

You're going to need a torx bit for the transmission fluid drainplug.

Yeah - after having 12 diff cars in my short existence as a driver (all but two taken due to the engine dieing/high mileage) and finally having a Nice car, I want it to last. I have read far too many horror stories about bent valves, broken pistons, etc... after a TBelt snapped.

I would rather change far too often to prevent it; than go through another blown engine. Its an expense... But I love my car haha

Its been a long while since I got out to any meets (due to work and daddy daycare) So getting an install party going would be a blast.

Does anyone else have things they want to do?

I got a timing belt to do also. If Jay gets it in this week, I might be able to go.

Don't worry, since it's an 07 STi, you'll have a broken piston regardless of whether of not you do the t-belt.

Lets see how many we can get to show - even if you don't need to do things to your ride, it would still be fun.

Front Subframe
Koni inserts
Ground control sleeves
Group N bushings

We should be able to bang it out in an afternoon right?!

If anyone needs a timing belt, i have a gates racing belt i got for someone (who posted in this thread) but doesn't bother to return PMs anymore so i guess they don't want it,

also let me know when you are going to do this, maybe i will come lend a hand (or just hang out) and bring you the SS lines at the same time

Jay - That would be Awesome! Its harder to get out than I thought it would be...

Anyway, for those who are interested;

Current plan is to have this event This Saturday - Target time 09:00 - on. Please post up if you wish to attend. Also, Post up if you have work to be done.
This will give me an accurate head count and a general feel for how long all the installs will take.

In addition to the beer/pizza, I am working to get some custom brew that a few guys @ work make... Warning - It Will knock you off your feet.

If you guys have anything else you would like to do? Maybe a curse after? (Takes about 40 mins to hit Vulture Mine (and some of that is very scenic/curvy with lots of wide open road to let it rip))
