Default Chevrolet Reveals Production 2012 Aveo Sedan "By Mistake"

Quote:
The image you see above is an illustration, and a heavily re-touched one at that. Still, this is not the work of some basement-dwelling, Chevy-obsessed Photoshop jockey. No, it is the work of a little outfit known at General Motors. The company says that the images of its upcoming, not-lame-looking Aveo subcompact were released "by mistake." Okay, sure.

The Aveo will slot between the upcoming Spark subcompact and the near-to-midsize upcoming Cruze sedan. That's slicing the small-car pie pretty narrowly, but at least the new Aveo looks like a vehicle that someone might actually want to drive, as opposed to the penalty box that is the current car. And that the new car's styling, inside and out, follows pretty closely to the racy-looking Aveo RS concept that the company unveiled at the Detroit Show at least implies that it might end up being fun to drive -- maybe.

We know that Chevy imagines the upcoming Aveo, at least in its available hatchback form, to be its entry into the hot-hatch segment, whether the company can pull this off we'll have to wait and see.

Note the remarkable similarity to the exclusive sketch we published months ago.

Ummm....yep, definitely like that Aveo (even if it is an illustration) way more than the current one. Dare I say I might even consider this when I am looking for a small car.

The headlights make the car look real surprised, but it's pretty good overall. A big step forward and ample competion to the Fiesta.

Now what's Chrysler/Fiat/Lancia/Alfa going to introduce to compete in this class before they become too far behind?

Anyways, the new Aveo is a definite improvement. The 'mericans (sans Chrysler) are really stepping it up at a mind-blowing pace.

It's got a bit of a Scion TC look to it, but I love the look of the interior.

It would be easier to update to a nice European beam pattern and replace the inner lights with some nice driving beam lenses. Like my old car:

Kia hired the Lancer designer? It's a big step up from the outgoing model, for sure.

Not too bad looking. Just about anything would be better than the abortion that is the current model. My first thought when I glanced at it was Volvo S40.

What a staggering step forward but please stop with two tone poop color. I like how the outgoing model is referred to as a "penalty box" which is true but still understates how hideously wretched it is. It's about time they start showing what they can do it hasn't been done in over 40 years. Check out pictures of the Cruze, surprising stuff in there too.

The 500? Maybe that's too small to be a competitor to a larger Aveo, though.

This Aveo looks to be the size of the older Focii. The 500 is even way smaller than the Yaris.
