Default 5-Headed Snake Myth or reality?

last night, this Indian guy I work with was telling me about one of their Gods is a 5-headed snake ... as I nodded my head in acceptance. He then proceeded to explain to me that there really is a such thing as these 5-headed snakes (cobra) in India. Now I am a bit skeptical but continued to nod my head in acceptance of this story. he must have sensed my skepticism b/c he e-mailed me these 2 pics today....

I checked on snopes and found nothing on this topic/pics. Can anyone tell me WTF is going on here?

For your efforts/troubles....

C/N: 5-headed snakes... Fact or Fiction??

Listen to this guy. He knows a lot about boxes. You know who else knows about boxes? Solid Snake.

See where I'm going with this?

I have to agree w c&w here. Upon closer inspection, I can also see that the snakes scales are 100% identical on each of the heads ... to a fault.

There's even a bit of residual background that's identical. It's under each snake's chin.

The second pic... the "snake" has 7 necks? How's that jive with 5 heads?

I wonder if this (Indian) guy will be offended when I call these pics/one of his gods into question?

I really don't want to pizz him off....nor do I want to question anyone's religous beliefs. I think I'll just stay quiet on this one.

Thanks OT.

the snake in 1st picture looks nothing like the one in 2nd picture. (color, width, the way the body is shaped, etc)

How are these pics going to call his god into question? These pics don't disprove, or prove, anything at all. There are a lot of recessive genetic traits in this world, I don't see how this would be any different.

i do not know him well enough to understand the fervor with which he approaches different aspects 7 things related to his religion.

Lets face it, there are Christians who would go completely off if anyone was to question a picture and/or the details related to Jesus. aka religous nutjobs.

Him and I get along just fine....and I don't want to take any sort of chance on upsetting him.

if they actually existed, why would there be a need to photoshop / fake pics of them?

Did I really do such a poor job of explaining the story in my OP?

You know, you just may be right. But what happens when you're walking down the street in the backwoods of India, minding your own business, when you come face-to-faces with one of these beast/gods? You're going to be stunned... so stunned that he'll likely get the drop on you. He will bite you with his five heads and swallow pieces of you down his seven throats. You'll be wishing you paid attention in OT's Coworkers Mythology 101.
