Guys I'm new to this forum. I live up by Arrey near Caballo reservoir. I drive a blue 2011 STI Sedan. I am looking to make some friends here and eventually do some minor mods to my car. Just wanted you folks to know I was here in the area.

No. I have lived here since 2000. I bought my car in June 2011 just for fun. It is definitely that. I made a few trips through Emory Pass and the occasional jump to light speed from Upham to Radium Springs but other than that I use it as a daily driver most of the time up to Elephant Butte where I work. Probably within the next year I would like to look at some engine management, intake and exhaust mods. Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks, maybe I'll look you up sometime I'm down there. The first week that I bought my car I was passed on I 25 by an identical blue STi. They raced up on me and pulled alongside but I never found out who was driving. My car was still breaking in and I had to resist trying to keep up with them. I think they are from up north possibly Albuquerque. Sounded modified. Take care and have a good weekend.

His name is Ace. He's tried racing me in town a couple times too. Sold his car because he didn't know how to shift and got a "celestial blue" mazda . I hope it's automatic. As soon as I get a chance to talk with him I wanna see if he wants to go to the track and race me legally. Anyways, it's nice having you here! Remember, no street racing

Ha I wondered why I was seeing that Mazda at outback now... That's depressing. Must be for the gas mileage.

Thanks guys for the welcome. As for me, here's the deal. I bought my car sight unseen and had it delivered on a trailer after negotiating with dealers in several states. To be honest, I never drove one before. I just needed another toy. I have not been disappointed. I read somewhere on this forum that it's in the blood of every STi owner to want to take an already incredible car and mod it.....guilty as charged. I am old enough to tell you that I don't know much about these cars (I'm also old enough to admit it) I'm willing to learn. thanks again

I drove to Dallas for mine. Don't regret it. It is a money pit tho... Been thinking about pulling the trigger on a CF trunk I have been watching on here for months...
At the same token I need a shell for the rb25 I bought. Decisions...

Since I am such a noob here I went back and read (more like browsed) the entire Las Cruces thread. At first I thought I was reading the script from West Side Story with the Sharks and the Jets in a rumble over the merits of Las Cruces...lol...anyways I am familiarizing myself with who's around and getting used to some of the acronyms. Like I said I'm here to learn.

Yep, and I noticed lots of posts by you wgr73 throughout. Maybe yall can make a run up to Hatch and we will get some BBQ at Sparkys sometime. I'll put the old lady on the bike and I'll drive the soob. Funny story: Wife wants to learn to ride my Shadow Aero so last weekend we head down to the pavement on the Chile Plant Rd...moral of the story , I should have told her if all else fails disengage the clutch and street bikes don't turn well in plowed fields. No bruises on her and a minor scratch on the highway bar. I ended up having to go one up behind her helping her get the feel of the clutch and balance of the bike. later guys headin home

OK guys, I need some help. On the way to work this morning on the interstate my cruise control cutout the cel came on and I got a flashing SI and flashing cruise control indicator. I stopped to fill up so I turned the car off and had the same lights on when I restarted. My car is a stock 2011 WRX STi. I going to call the dealership in El Paso as that is the closest one. I will ask them if they want me to go locally to get the code read or just bring it in. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on?

Yup, thats what happens when the CEL comes on. No control, no SI drive, nothing. Go to auto zone/checkers/ if you have one, or someone with a code reader. They can tell you the code, after that post it up here. El Paso is a ways away just to get a code read. It's possible it's something very simple, or maybe not, but you won't know until you pull the code off. Make sure if you have autozone or someone pull it off that they DO NOT RESET THE ECU! That's very important as there are saved-learned settings on the ECU that you'd probably like to view.
