Default DP Question...

*edit my car is a 2003 WRX Wagon, Pretty much stock apart from the snorkle delete!*

Before you flame me i searched NASIOC and COBB's forums for my answer and found lots of usefull information, but not any that answers my question!

My question is what is considered "a downpipe"? seeing that some people will run the stage2 93 octane maps with just a "downpipe" I have a JDM Ver 2 STI Downpipe which is 2.5 inch with only 1 cat opposed to the stock 2.25inch with dual catalytic converters.... Would this beconsidered enough to run the stage 2 map?

Once again i apologize if this question has been answered already, if it has i surely havent found it!

For the most part, what you have there is considered a downpipe. What we consider a performance downpipe would be a 3" catless downpipe, or even a 3" high flow catted downpipe. Most of the staged off the shelf maps you see require a 3" catless downpipe unless specified to work with a catted downpipe. Oh and chances are, your current downpipe is not a bellmouth. The 3" downpipes referred to in the requirements listed for running the staged maps are most likely some form of bellmouth or divorced wastegate downpipe.

Thanks for the response pal. I ended up finding some info i needed most people dont reply to threads headed by scoobynoobies haha.

I ended up sourcing out a 3'' turbo back system; im just trying to figure out if i can put on my sti downpipe to my new 3'' system to pass etest. when it comes time for emission testing. Ill probably need a donut gasket.... anyways thanks again.
