prometheum, if you haven't been before you'll have a blast. I went last year and really enjoyed even with the extremely reduced car count. The diesels are crazy fast.

Are the Audi R15s going to be there? I thought I read that they'd only be doing LeMans.

They are going to run Spa last I heard but for some strange reason they are not ready again this year for Sebring. I don't think Audi is going to be around the LMP world much longer esspesially since the rules change a lot for next season.

If you want to do the whole infield/party/watch the race thing I will be there with a group that goes all out. we get there fri night, set up camp and stay til sunday morning. You are welcome to join us or just stop by.

I am just west of orlando, if u want to caravan down to sebring fri night im heading out about 6:00pm.

My advice for first timer, if you are staying the whole weekend then bring plenty of food and drink. and be ready for the weather. my first time i ran out of food/beer the first day, it sucked.

Will be there for Saturday only. We were supposed to have a group of 5-7 people, but it looks like only three of us will be going. Between my buddy and I we should have well over 1K pics, so I will post some afterwards.

just realized that there is Wifi avalible at the track for $10 a day. Good way to follow the race and not have to sit in a lawn chair on a burm for 12 hrs. Plus, you wont have to wonder what happed to the "#2" car when it doesn't come around again for 20 mins.

For me, the internet will be my "eat and booze while not missing the good parts" device.

And that leads me to my ?.... Anyone know of a live timing website for ALMS or the Sebring race specifically?

if you don't want to eat funnel cakes and $6 bud lights all day, pack a cooler and throw it in your trunk.

Get there early on Saturday and park on the infield or get the north paddock car pass (expensive, but if you have few people with you its easier to bear the cost). Bring your own food and drinks, it will save you money and most likely be easier on your stomach, plus it will provide you shade and ability to cool down a bit, it can get hot during a day. There is virtually no shade anywhere around the track so prepare for lots of sunshine.

As far as the race goes, you can walk around and see every single corner, its really up to you how you want to watch it. It usually takes us around 3 hours to do circle around the track.

There will be entertainment (read: bikini contest) around 1 or 2PM, in the middle of the infield, if you want to have a good view get there at least 30mins before it starts. There are some other attractions in the same area.

We'll be there Thursday through Saturday. Flying in to Orlando Wednesday night, then driving down Thursday morning. We only got a hotel for wednesday and saturday night in Orlando, so we'll be sleeping in the rental car Th-Fr. Should be fun.

Looks like Field wrote off the Intersport Lola in testing so here's hoping they don't make the start.

Field unhurt in huge testing crash

By Matt Beer Tuesday, March 16th 2010, 07:10 GMT

Intersport driver Jon Field escaped unscathed from a horrendous accident in pre-race testing at Sebring on Monday.

The American's Lola rolled several times in the violent crash between Turns 9 and 10.

The car was destroyed in the accident, but the central safety cell remained intact and landed upright.

Field was able to extricate himself from the wreckage and after initial checks at the circuit's medical centre, he was taken to Highlands Regional Medical Centre for further observation. He was released with a clean bill of health last night, and could yet race in Saturday's Sebring 12 Hours using Intersport's spare car.

No official results were released from the test, but unofficial timings put the two factory Peugeots on top ahead of Aston Martin Racing.

just saw that. yikes. glad he's ok.

but like ferg said, he would frustrate me to no end if i was on the track with him. that's my driver side.

my evil entertainment side likes seeing the mess that car makes during races, until it breaks or crashes.

I think he's dangerous.

One gets the impression that once he plants his right foot he's not going to lift no matter what.

I really dislike how the announcers always brush off his over aggressive 'style' by saying, "That's just Jon."

If he could add any type of consistency to his driving he would be amazing. But like Ferg said, the way he tends to drive is dangerous more often than not. Glad he is ok though.
