The car responded extremely well for such low bost level and timing so we called the tuning a night but ended up getting the bung for the WB02 at 5:30 AM welded to end the day. (props to the D-Block boys).

This morning the madness started when we dialed in the EBC in and cranked the boost to 22 lbs and a couple more degrees of timing. On the third pull and before we could get an airboy, the less than optimal weld on the wastegate let go and ended the fun for the day. Luckily, by this point Mikey had finished tuning the car on 93 so it's now sitting with a tank of e85, a fresh weld on the sotck IWG and a tank full of e85.

Chris I didn't have the heart to ask and hindsight is always 20/20 so let's just leave it at that. I really dont know how the cops didn't get called and again many thanks for everything. Get that STi broken in and have Mikey take car of you.

haha Also remember Its been about 2 years since I touched a welder... just got back from overseas so that probably had something to do with it. I'm glad it atleast got a pump tune. Sucks about the PS pump though since I parted my car out to get it running so it could get tuned

BTW tell your boy with the MR2 with one wiper I found him those pillow ball rod ends he asked me about. Sen as my contact info.

Mike needs to come back down when the weather is better and we can have a nice cruise to philly for some cheesesteaks!

Thanks Gary and for sure he does! PM tomorrow and thanks for all your help as well. And Ralph no worries on the weld. It got us what we needed before 22psi proved too much for it to hold hehe. I had Doug put a couple nice tacks on it so it isn't going anywhere now. Just need that PS pump and it's off to tuning it on e85.

Here's a little peek of how it was taking the boost and timing today before the weld on the IWG and power steering let go:

Meeting Seneca and the south Jersey guys was a pleasure!

This car boggles my mind. When I say this is the FASTEST vf car I have ever been in, its an understatement.

On 15 pounds of boost this little GC would have walked my 12.0 second stock turbo STi.

When we finally ended the pump gas tune (without a log or airboy damnit), the car scared me as a passenger. I swear its an 11.70 car on str8 pump, its so light, and the power just lasts forever. A completely different feeling than a 2.5l.

I expect 310 on the airboy, with little taper on the top end.

I left the car on an E85 map with no power added. It runs and drives but we couldnt finish it as it took a while to get the gate rewelded and I just had to make the drive home before i got too tired.

Im hoping this trans holds up. I can see this being a mid 11 second vf car, easy. I cant stress how damn fast this car is for the mods, I want one!!

Do it!!

I really hope the weather stays clear this weekend. I also hope Seneca is around as well. We can do your car on C16, and his on E85 fri-sat, and hit up the track sat or sun.

Ill also have my whip out on VP109 for a trap speed run. If she traps 125+ that will fuel the fire for getting my driveline problem solved.

I also may have a stock turbo STi coming though. I'm trying to convince him to do a race map.

That would be cool to get some times from 4-5 cars I have tuned all in one weekend

I really wouldnt bother.......its gonna be a huge PITA and cost alotta money just to shave off a couple hundred pounds. If you had an STi it might be a good idea.....but removing the bumper beams, subframe, rear seat brace, etc in a wrx will get you pretty close to the gc8.

My 02 WRX is sitting at 2800 lbs right now with a 6 speed.

If you really wanna get nutty on the power/weight......get one of these. I've been drooling over them for a couple years now. Its a "kit" car to drop an sti drivetrain into....

Pure sex that car is. I have never even heard of it. Maybe in a few years we can go halves

Seneca, you may want to go over to Doug's house and start the car up after work. It starts now, but with a full tank of E85, 30 degree weather, ECT, it may be very hard to get running the next time you get to drive it.

Sounds good Mikey and will do. I'm going to be stopping at Rallispec tonight to see if Dave is willing to sell me a PS pump and I'll swing by Doug's after. Also, that car is badass. Looks like a Pontiac Solstice and an s2000 had an illegitimate love child and I want one NOW.

Nice, hopefully Dave hooks it up and comes through with one. If you still want that bottom end let me know, if not its getting shipped to chicago next week when I get pp'ed lol. I would rather lose the little bit of money and see it go to someone I know who will put it to good use
