Default Redesigned Mazda 5 Unveiled

Quote:
GENEVAŚMazda unveiled the next generation of its Mazda 5 today at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show. The updated small van gets the "Nagare Flow" design treatment which Mazda says is the first full application on one of its production cars.
The new 5 also displays Mazda's new smiling front end, complete with five-point grille. In the back, the rear quarter panel and rear glass have been extended to cover the D-pillar, emphasizing the car's new look.
An updated interior offers wider, thicker seats, power sliding side doors and a redesigned center stack. Cargo capacity now maxes out at 52.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat.
European engine options include a 2.0-liter direct-injection gasoline engine, and a 1.8-liter gasoline engine, both linked to a six-speed manual transmission.
Inside Line says: Set to go on sale in Europe in 2010, the new Mazda 5 is still at least a year away from coming to the U.S. Ś

Damn. Looks like they're married to that stupid grin.

I think the current 5 is crackerjack, but I'm seeing too much styling and not enough design on this one...

I love the fascia but this was the wrong model to introduce the Furai sculpted sides on. The whole car seems to fall apart after the C pillar in profile.

are the rear doors "suicide doors" like the RX-8????? They look like they have a rail for the sliders, but the one picture looks like it opens out.

I agree with you on that... it looks way to big to be a mazda5

EDIT: Okay I know it says Mazda 5 but perhaps that is not the mazda 5 we are getting...

Ugh Mazda is really ruining their lineup with that new look. The rear end is the only thing that looks better then the current 5.

What's with the waved creases flowing from the front fender to the rear taillights? So the whole Mazda lineup will now be one big happy family? Yuck.
