Default 2009 WRX Sedan Front and Rear Speaker size

I just need to confirm if the door speaker sizes are 6.5" or 5.25". On the Crutchfield website it lists both sizes as compatible. I'm looking to upgrade to clarion speakers and HU. Any input would be very helpful? thanks

I have the base model so I ordered the oem snails that go in the doors for the Tweets. I got the cheap alpine components and they sound amazing now. It required very little dremeling to make them fit.

Yes, I can confirm. In the process of changing the shop car's out now. They are 6.5". You need to watch the depth of the speaker you are getting though. Recommend not going larger than 3" depth.

Also, you will either need to make a 1/2" mdf rings to mount the new speaker to or buy the plastic universal ones from Metra or American Universal.

I have alpine sps-600 6.5" speakers installed in all 4 doors. the installer reused the mounting bracket that came with the factory speakers. they sound great and hit hard (considering they are only powered by the pioneer headunit)
