Hehehe I once beat a lotus elise in a little stoplight to stoplight type race....

I remembered to follow the...

"Back off while your ahead and use the flashers to declare victory before that light little thing gets up to break my arse speed..."

...method. Worked well, I've heard those things kill at freeway speeds....

Umm, isn't the Lotus Elise an Isuzu powered FWD car? I assume you guys meant the Lotus Esprit which is a very fast car, even back in the day when it ran a single turbo inline 4.

The Isuzu Impulse is FWD car with handling by "lotus". The Elise is a 2 seat super lightweight rocket.

I have a really old thread on here about a run in with the coolest MY01 911 Turbo owner. He was having as much fun as I was. We were stop light racing for about 3-4 stop lights and each time we would come to the next light he would ask about my car. My wife was with me and she was making fun of my ear to ear smile. I was as giddy as a school girl.

i think a lot of faster cars are attracted to the wrx because they've heard rumors that it's kind of fast. i always get guys trying to "show me who's boss". most of the time, i just let them go. you really aren't proving anything by racing. once in a while, if it's just me and another car and we are all alone at night, i will see who's faster, and of course, usually it's me, but once in a while i will get embarrassed. it's all good. i've never been beaten by a car with less than 300HP, so that's fine with me. but i always do it in good fun, and i never weave in and out of traffic when going fast. that is a good way to kill someone.

You're probably thinking of the Lotus Elan, the one from the late 80's or early 90's.

On the way into work this a.m. a new black MR2 waited for me at a stop sign. I let him get the hole shot, then used that patented WRX slingshot launch to whip past him. No other cars on the street (which is odd for 8:30 on Bison.)

leo and i had a new turbo 911 playin with us on the 73 coming back from oceanside one day. this was when my car was really haulin and there was no traffic on the highway, so we cranked it up. it did pull us, but no by much. i would say that in one mile, he only had about 3-4 car lengths on us. and i know he was on the gas, i have driven that model of car on several occasions and i have a pretty good idea of how it runs. the problem with running against this car is that it never stops pulling. when the subaru kinda winds down, the porsche just keeps on going. but it should for $125,000.

I had some fun with a viper on the way to a meet a couple weeks ago....He could go fast, but had poor judgement how to go get around cars.

Is it just me, or has everyone noticed how the Civics have just sort of taken into hiding now that the WRX wurd is out? It used to be that every RlCER with chrome coffee can stuck on the end of his exhaust pipe was trying to rev on me (eeyewwww! that sounds so nasty!) but now they kind of fade back in the hopes that they won't be castrated in front of their beotches.

Sorry, slammer!

yeah. either that, or they see some old guy driving a subaru so they figure you don't want to race anyway.

just kidding

My wife gets the most reactions from driving my wrx. She always tells me how ppl try to get her to race when shes driving it. Its really funny I think.

Hey Ron, she hasn't noticed the exhaust either, good thing. I told her I just messed with the car to bring out a little more power, plus the way she drives it she hardly ever gets into the boost so she never hears the exhaust! Woohoo. Thanks again Motor Madness.

Totally!

Being old is like being a stealth person. It's pretty cool; the "youngers" (that's what we old guys call you people) never see us comin'.

Just wish I was healthier

Dark pearly silverish.

Default Worked over by an S4.

All Loti begin with an "E". That's what they do. Check the website for Open Track Challenge (www.opentrackchallenge.com) (duhh). A hardtop Elise just cleaned up in the series, placing really high overall though it was several classes back from Unlimited.

Only spanking I've taken was by an Audi S4. Ask I ROBOT - he watched it happen. I will not repeat speeds, so let's just say this thing would have done a number on vehicles far greater than our Imps. Hell, there's no way it was stock, but it doesn't matter 'cause a chase is a race.

Meanwhile, Civics are looking for holes to hide in. They don't even rev at me anymore. Wusses. Lose with style!

hahah adding to my own post is kinda weird but...

getting on 405 south on century, a bimmer with xenon pulled up behind me with force, so i drop it, pulled for about a sec or so, and he's on my arse the whole time, alright, 3rd, 4th, still behind me, so i pull right and he follows... 5th, he slowed a bit, checking his vanity mirror or something, then pull pass me at about 90...

a siver 2003 M3
haahahhahah... even my wife told me to give up... luckily, a corner came up, and i guess he's not familar with the road, he actually slow down to less than a car length in front of me...and we took the corner side by side...

hope that dude wasn't trying to show off to the chick in his car, otherwise, even the fact that during low end acceleration, he can't pass a 'wagon' is pretty bad

e46 m3's in insane. That is the only way i can describe them. I was lucky enough to play with one in the late hours of the night on PCH when i first got my wrx. At the time i was feeling really confident since i'd destroyed every other car that tried to mess with me (including old m3's, corvette in s-turns, audi s4, and built mustang with a blower) but his car was so insane, i dind't have a chance at any time, not even off the line. I had PERFECT launch and i expected him to peel out. All that horsepower and his wheels just chirped and than GOODBYE, he was gone, pulling away from me in every gear, it wasn't even a race, i felt like i was racing an indy car in a geo metro (i m sorry i compared the wrx to a geo metro, but it adds to the exageration) Oh, and his e46 was stock, still had the dealer stickers in the window
