Default So I bought this 04 WRX (not sti) from someone here and have a problem.

The original owner said he had an AccessPort at one time and flashed the ECU back to stock then sold the AP. He said he never started the car to test if the flash took because he thought the engine may be going and didn't want to make it any worse. He also said it used to run when he parked it months ago. I'm attempting to start the engine to at least hear what it sounds like. It'll crank but not start. There is compression and a shot of starting fluid didn't give me so much as a pop. I tested for spark and I have none. I'm guessing the injectors arn't firing either because I don't smell any fuel out the exhaust. The Fuel pump does not prime or run during cranking. The fuel pump relay is on and power is going to the pump control module in the trunk. I checked both crank and cam sensors at around 1.8-2k so they should be fine. I have the 5v sensor supply from the ECU. The main relay is working and there's power everywhere there should be.

So my questions are.

Is this ECU bricked? Can I reset or reflash it? Take it to a dealer? Buy an eBay ECU? Does this have any form of Immobilizer that causes this? Is there anyone in northeast Illinois that wouldn't mind swinging by the shop with an AP to see if it'll link up? I'll spring for pizzas and beer.

For the life of me I can't find my code scanner to see if there's any codes that might hint what the problem is related to. "code p666 ECU possessed" perhapse?

Contact tactrix. They may be able to help. For $75 they offer an ecumenical repair service
