Default Bmw will lease up to 700 all-electric 1-Series cars

BMW’s second test fleet of electric cars will comprise of up to 700 all-electric 1-series cars that will be sent to selected customers in major global cities, according to the carmaker’s board member for sales and marketing Ian Robertson. The second test comes only a year after a batch of 450 Mini E cars were sent to selected BMW drivers in New York, New Jersey and California.

Robertson said that the fleet will have about 600 to 700 units. It is believed that about 200 cars are intended for the US and that about 300-400 cars will be sent to Europe in cities such as Berlin, Paris and London. The test fleet is expected to be rolled out over the next year. This new concept is named ActiveE. It is a four-seater and is a version of BMW’s 1-series coupe.

A new-generation lithium ion battery is used, enabling the car to run 170 kilometers (100 miles) on a full charge of its 170-hp electric motor. A full charge takes about three hours, giving the car an electronically- limited top speed of 160 km (90 miles)
