Default Winter Tires 2015 WRX GT Radial Champiro Ice Pro

Ok so I just bought these tires and thought I would give you guys a review on them Since I really could not find anything on them before purchasing them for myself. I spent $449 at Discount tires and with their mail in rebate I got $50 prepaid VISA so for $399.00 a set of 4 new Winter Tires. These are off Brand so I thought you guys would appreciate some feedback on a Off brand tire.

Ok Snow day!
Here is my review.

It rained before we got about 6 inches of snow so there was ice under the snow pack. My neighborhood had about 6 inches and the main roads were plowed with slush in some spots other spots solid Ice and Snow packed in other spots.

Driving Style: Aggressive, Quick acceleration/Hard Stopping
Top Speed 55MPH

I’m going to compare these tires to my wife’s Blizzak WS80 215/45/17 on her 2014 Hyundai Elantra.
So I drove to work as aggressive as I could to see how these tires would do. I have never driven a car with this much power in the snow so it was easy to break traction. These Tires stop really really good. The ABS clicked on when I stomped on it but I was super impressed at how well the car stopped. The traction control activated when I got into it a little bit on a hard acceleration from a Red light. It felt a little lose going around corners so I eased off the gas a little bit but the car continued to compensate for the slipping.

IN comparison son wife’s Elantra with FWD… I drove her car more conservative and did not push it. I slipped in the corners a little bit even with the Blizzak’s and the car struggled a little bit from stop to go. Her tires are much more quite on the road. For a FWD car I felt like the Blizzaks were the way to go and did really well.

Back to the WRX and GT Radial Champiro Ice Pro tire’s… I would rate the fun factor as 10 as you are able to slip in these tires when you push it and the car does fish tale a little bit but gains traction very quickly. I would not race this tire on a Ice lake or anything like that but if you’re on a budget I would Highly recommend these tires. I felt safe and was able to drive like I want and pass traffic with ease. At a red light a 4x4 truck attempt to beat me at the green to quickly merge in front of me and needless to say I was able to get up to 40 MHP so quick that all the other cars had not even made it through the intersection yet on ice/snowpack.

Would I buy these again? Yes if I am on a budget at less then $70 bucks a tire…. Absolutely!! But I want to know what a High performance winter tire will do and I plan to spend some money next winter and get a better set of tires. If you are not going to race on a winter lake and just want some safe winter tires then you can’t go wrong with these tires. Its easy to maneuver in traffic and you can still be aggressive in these tires on bad roads. I am really impressed with the car/tires combination.

I hope my review helps you guys and good luck with whatever tires you end up getting. I would like to know your opinions on your set up’s as well.
