tires- NEED HELP will a 245/40 fit? i think at fenders will be fine due to the high suspension of the 2.5i. so my main concern is it rubbing on the strut.

or would 235/40 be a safer bet?

any one running this or have the knowledge to help a brother out???
looking to buy rubber this week.

thanks
As long as the 2.5i has the same inner clearance as the WRX, you'll be fine.

+1^ I was running 245/40/18 on 18x8.5 +44 Rota Gravel and my front tires didn't clear after moderate rolling and a 1.5" drop on the track. Those are taller than the 255/35 by .7". Let us know your stance.

Update on my Summer setup I've been waiting to put on:

-18x8.5 +44 Grids
-235/40/18 Federals (run wide, no stretch)
-Epic springs (1.2f/1.0r)
-Konis (lowered the front another .3" so effective lowering is 1.5f/1.0r)
-Stock fenders (not rolled or pulled)

I've been driving for about a week on them on the typical roads I usually travel and I've only had very minor/quick rubbing on hard turns and very large bumps. Definitely not anything that would warrant modifying the stock fenders. I would imagine this is the limit for wheel/tire/suspension with stock fenders. Car looks and rides great, I'll get pics up soon.

it looks alright. but from past experiences, it's not worth it. go with a urethane lip of some sort. these garage lips are only temporary and are a PITA to remove the tape after they start ripping or coming apart

I've never seen one that looked all that great. It's worth it to just drop the cash on a real lip.

Fellow in another thread just posted up pictures, with having done it all the way around. Looks pretty darn good in my book. Probably first time I've seen it look good.

inner wheel will hit suspension components (coilover) with +38. spacers will do the trick. not sure of how many mm's though

inner clearance is a big issue. even with my +18 offset, my tire comes less then an inch from my inner wheel well. a buddy tried mounting his 18x10 +38 xd9's and the wheel hit the coilover. needed spacers to run them

Wheel Specs: 18x10 +18 work emotion xd9's
Tire and Specs: BFGoodrich G-force KDW2's 235/35/18

Fender Modification: all 4 corners rolled, rears have slight pull
Wheel Spacers: no spacers

I wonder if 18x10 +38 would fit on a spring/strut style suspension (not coilovers) as this might allow more suspension clearance given the top of the tire clears the bottom of the strut.

hmm...i wonder? Even if someone has to use spacers with a +38 to clear suspension (=38 and say a 10mm spacer = +28 offset), they'd still be more "set in" then my +18.

i would have went that route but when i purchased these (about 1yr ago) they only offered +18 with a 10" wide wheel for a lug patturn of 5x100. the +38 was offered as well as the +18 with a lug patturn of 5x114.3. I think they just recently started offering +38 with 5x100.

i was realy stubborn and wanted these wheels in white as 18x10 so i made them fit with the +18 lol. It isnt realy my style and was kinda ehh when it was set and done but they grew on me. i think the excess poke gives the car a more aggressive look then the widebodied GR's. Gives character i guess lol.

I do like the way widebody hatches look, i just think the wide wheels and some poke on a narrow body is an aggressive stance. for example, me and my buddy dan got together for a shoot and he has a widebody "flush" fitment and i have the narrow body "poke" fitment. i love dans car, so dont get me wrong, but i think my car stands more aggressive even though its not widebody. we both are WRB with WORK WHITE wheels.

i cant wait to go meaty fitment though. it kills me having 450whp and having to slow way down on turn's and such because of slight rubbage. so, it looks good, but isnt practical. function>form is what i want with a nice flush stance and some street radials. im up in the air about new setup for this year (wheel, tire, dimensions on both). maybe rpf1's, maybe something used thats 17" and light, maybe hoosier radials, or MT. maybe a street performance tire. IDK lol

Love the rear shot. Saw it posted on Dan's IG page and so many people were commenting on the taillight overlays I think they didn't even notice yours was a narrow body. That fitment makes it look more aggressive than Dan's car for sure.

But I agree, something more practical at your power level would make a whole lot more sense. I'm still bound and determined to try and fit the +38 versions of those XD9's with my spring/strut setup.

I would try 255/40/17 x 9 (or 9.5) +30 to +38 with the current trans you're running. If you do an STI 6 speed swap (short gears) I'd use a taller tire like 245/45/17 or 265/40/17. If you do the LGT 6-speed swap, I'd do the 255's I suggested first.

Thanks quak! Ya im doing the sti 6spd and aiming for 10's. thanks for your sugestions. Ill be keeping them in mind

If u end up trying the xd9's, make sure to let me know. Im interested in the outcome as much as u lol. Like i stated earlier, i would have purchased the +38 over the +18 if they offered it back then.

that WRX with the ASA GT1 rims is absolutely gorgeous! That little black extension it has on the rear spoiler is what exactly? I'm interested in getting one myself.
