^check the first page, there's one with 245s on 17s (which is pretty damn close!)

lol, I didn't list enough information for an accurate response, and I apologise for that. My two sets of wheel specs: 17x8.5 +44 for daily duties 17x9 +45 for track purposes I'm thinking about running a 255 on both, and want to know if it will clear the inside. I wanted to see if anyone is running a 255 tire on any 17's, because most people I see here have 18's with 255 or 265/30 tires. my last option would be to get rota DPT 17x9 +35's. |

I'm planning to run 18x8.5 +48 with 255/35's on my 3g.
It's supposed to clear on the inside. so I don't see why yours wouldn't with the extra 4mm or so on the inside because of the offset. |

The narrow bodies have trouble fitting any 255 with an offset under 40.
A 255 can go on as low as an 8" wheel, though it will have a fairly soft sidewall feel. Last edited by sc00by4life; 12-30-2010 at 09:00 PM. |

I beleive he was worried about strut clearance.
but yes , in the 40's with a 255 on a narrow body, you are going to need fender work. |

Ok, here's a question for you guys:
I need new tires really bad. I have Rota Torques that are 17x8 with a 48mm offset on the car now with 225/45/17's. I'm running stock suspension, and I probably will forever, as it's my daily driver. This time around, I'm thinking of going wider on the tires. I see that 245/40/17's seem to be a popular size for a 17x8 wheel. Would I run into any issues running that size tire, or should I go with a 235/45 or 235/40? I want to maintain stock overall diameter so the speedometer reads correct and all that stuff. |

you'll be fine with a 245 for sure, since you're on stock suspension.

What they said!
However, if you decided on the 235 width, I believe 235/45r17 is the closer to stock diameter then 235/40r17. |

Thanks guys! I'm gonna go with the 245/40's then. I just didn't know if they would rub anywhere or balloon out off the wheel on a 17x8 and adversely affect handling.

Do you think I would have to do any fender modifications or use wheel spacers if I ran this suspension and tire set up with with 17X8 wheels?

If you ain't rubbin you ain't dubbin.
Oh snap this isn't a vw forum. I must say a lot of y'alls rides look really good. I'm just waiting until I can afford some brewer rims on my '10 wrx and a nice little drop . Downtown Houston roads suck tho so not that much of a drop . |

cars look great i can't wait to get my wheels i have a few questions though
i may be buying a set of 18x8.5 +30 offset, i'm going to continue running stock suspension on my car 09 wrx, jw if anyone has any idea if it will rub, i personally don't want that aggressive of an offset but the wheels are a steal i was planning on running a 245/35 sized tire on it, prob the hankook ventus v12's thanks for any advice |
