This. We're nearing the end of the 2009 MY. I would think that at this point many people will wait for the 2010s or for good deals on the 2009s once the 2010s are out.

Despite the loss of the legacy wagon, a new impreza that I'm not really interested in, and no diesel (yet!...hopefully)

I'm sticking with Subaru because SOA Blog is awesome!

Bring back the special pricing on the 09 STi like you had on the 08 STi.

A report released this morning by Subaru of America Inc. shows the company sold 15,649 vehicles last month. That's 7 percent fewer than the 16,711 units sold in April 2008.

Sales of the Legacy model, which is built at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. plant in Lafayette, increased by 36 percent to 2,561 units last month.

Sales of the Forester, which is made in Japan, totaled 5,955 last month, which represents a 12 percent increase over April of last year.

The remaining Subaru brands all posted lower sales results last month.

• The Outback, which is produced at SIA and includes the Legacy wagon, fell by 20 percent to 3,293 units.

• The Tribeca, also built at SIA, dropped by 59 percent to 567 units.

• The Impreza, which is manufactured in Japan, declined by 18 percent, to 3,273 units.
Seems like they cannot keep the current undersized Legacy in stock...

I see Tribeca is the industry sales leader, too.

That's pretty significant... What could account for such an increase in the last year for this model? Are there big incentives on the MY2009s right now?

They practically gave away my Legacy to get me to buy one and it was right around this time of year. Their are just great deals to be had this time of year even in an up time. I bought my legacy when they had that $3500 incentive and love it.

There are some good deals around. Sedans in general are holding up better than SUVs

You probably can't answer this but will we see 0% financing and customer cash on Spec Bs at some point?

They are in $1000-2000 range, nothing spectacular compared to previous incentives for Legacy.

It seems that Legacy sales picked up overall after MY2008 refresh. What would you attribute it to? (serious question)

My guess would be, the word of mouth finally spread, since you weren't giving it much 'love' advertisement wise.

Weird, maybe other dealers will start calling us for our Legacies, We sell the crap out of Foresters... I dont think I have sold a Legacy myself in two months...

Yep. I think the rebate was $2000 on my 2006 Legacy GT back in fall of 2005.

I think the single biggest factor that has been working against the Legacy has been SOA's absolutely atrocious advertising. There has been *nothing* for the Legacy for the longest time.

my guess as to why the legacy is doing well is not so much because of word of mouth but more so because of the 199 a month lease for 36months on an automatic SE model

I can honestly say I would make a purchase of a 2009 STi today if they brought the 2008 deals back...
