Default Data logging newb: Knock learning vs. Correction

I just did a quick 3rd gear pull and data logged it with my accessport just out of curiosity.

What is the difference between knock learning vs. knock correction.

I logged from 4K rpms up to 6200 rpms in a quick 3rd gear pull.

In the Knock correction column i see anywhere from -.35 to -1.75. In the Knock learning column its all 0's.

Also what should i be seeing in the ignition advanced column? all positive #'s?.

Personally, I get negative knock correction values on occasion, but never saw knock learning. I believe knock learning is the ECU learning knock at certain RPMs, and retaining that information from what it perceives as knock. In the lower RPM range, negative knock correction values are considered acceptable. I have noticed that I can trigger negative knock correction depending on the gear I am in relative to my RPMs (ie: higher gear with more load triggers -KC on occasion).

Negative knock correction is the ECU pulling timing from what is perceives as knock, or other factors. From reading up on what Cobb defines as knock correction, I believe it can be from any number of factors based on calculations the ECU makes, not necessarily real knock events.

What does your DAM look like?

Post up your log.

Ok.

I just went out and did a better log of 3rd and 4th gear. Starting in 3rd at 3k rpm to 6300 rpm in 3rd and a little more in 4th. Both my Knock learning and knock corrections read all 0.

not sure about what you mean by "Copy and paste the data around the [code] tag."

Well after getting out my magnifying glass....

You want to do a 3rd gear WOT log. It appears that you were cruising around for a bit, then went WOT at like 5700 to 6300. Try to hold your RPMs steady while in 3rd, start the log, then just mash it.

It is a good sign, I wouldn't worry that much. You didn't log DAM, but I am going to go out on a limb and say it is probably OK.

Btw, appears you are having some nice weather too.
