556 horsepower in a station wagon? For sale in the United States? From General Motors? Yes, it’s hard to believe — but soon it’ll be a reality, and we’ve got the pictures to prove it. This car has never been spied before, let alone shown without a shred of disguise — until now.
A few months ago, GM officially confirmed the car was on its way. The CTS-V wagon will be the third model in the CTS-V series, following the CTS-V sedan and forthcoming CTS-V coupe.
The performance wagon will share the sedan’s 556 horsepower supercharged V8 engine. With enough power on tap to rocket the grocery-getter from 0-60 in about 4 seconds, we suspect the CTS-V Sport Wagon will give the Audi RS6 Avant all it can handle.
The CTS-V will also do battle with the Mercedes E63 AMG Wagon and BMW M5 Touring. Mercedes has offered previous E-Class AMG models in America, but we’ve yet to hear whether the E63 will be imported. As for the M5, BMW has made it clear there are no plans to offer it here.
