Hey Forum,
Today I tackled a nice mod to the interior. I ordered three Prosport gauges. One Boost, One Oil Pressure, and One Oil Temp in 60mm Amber. If you are interested in more installs, check out my build thread! The install was pretty straight forward. The trickiest part was the rear galley under the intercooler. The plug was nice and tight and in the worst location. I used the stock oil pressure sender location to put a galley plug and new Prosport electronic pressure gauge. For the oil temp, I used the rear plug to put the second galley plug and sender. I also used the stock boost solenoid location to mount the electronic Prosport sender and tapped the "T" into the stock tubing. Here are the pictures, if you have any questions please ask them in this thread. It'll help others in the future if they happen to have the same question. Here's the NEW finished Picture ![]() Start with removing the alternator... Once you get the Alternator out the stock pressure sender is here. If you can't figure out how to take an alternator out, you probably shouldn't be doing this install... ![]() Once you get the stock sensor and plug out, you can put in your new galley plug and sender. It should look like this. ![]() Once you take the intercooler off, search under the intake manifold until you find a plug the size of a quarter with a 3/16 allen head in it. I used two extensions and got it out very easily... ![]() Here is the oil temp sender with the galley plug installed. If you use a 17mm crowfoot it'll make your life so much better. ![]() The new maze of boost lines... ![]() Where to go through the firewall. Using a coat hanger, once you go through the padding make a hard right down towards the gas pedal, I was able to get it pretty easily. I made a 1/4" hole in the grommet and made it as factory as possible. ![]() I removed the: Radio Instrument Cluster hood Instrument Cluster Clock Dash Vent Once removed I sent the gauge wires through the location where the clock was. ![]() Since the daisy-chain together, I only had to wire one gauge. I grabbed Power, Ignition and ground from the radio harness below. You can also get the parking light wire there too if you need it for your gauges. Once wired, I mounted the three gauges in the ATI center dash pod. If you would like to see how it was covered in Alcantara take a look (HERE) ![]() I also did a relocation of the clock down to the lower dash pocket. I have added note on how to do this throughout the thread so please read through first. ![]() Enjoy!!

I have this picture here... I used the brackets that came with the gauges and the 3M double sided tape. PLEASE remember that I did this because I am waiting for the new ATI center dash pod to come out... It should be soon but I was getting tired of waiting. I finally got the ATI pod in so the mounting is different then when I just used the brackets they came with. The new pod is below. ![]() Last edited by Overland04; 06-29-2012 at 07:41 AM. |

Time to break out the foam block, carving tools and fiberglass. It's custom pod time!! It's something I want to make anyway but I will give it 2 more months to see if it finally comes out. |

Also, I am assuming that's the limited WRX? I noticed the hand break and the shifter both has red stitching :O. My premium doesn't have that
I'll admit though that it is nice looking Well done sir. |

Does your dimmer switch work on these gauges? I am planning to install my prosport boost and a/f gauges with the smy cluster, and kind of clueless on which wires to tap into.

Unfortunately the ProSport gauges don't dim. The lights are either on or off. For the wiring there are a couple different choices depending on what color you want them to be and when. Since I only wanted mine to be red with a white dial all the time the wiring was easy. All you have to do is put black to ground, red and orange to ignition. If you want to have the gauges switch from white in the day to red in the night, then you have to add in the white wire to the parking light switch. All 4 wires are located in the radio harness if you are going to be near there otherwise the fuse box will have them also, you'll just need a clean way to top into it. Let me know if you need any help further! - Jason |

hey jason, putting the boost gauge in tomorrow. i am glad i dug this back up. i didnt know the gauge doesnt dim, but thats ok i guess. so yours is lit all the time? not a bad thing being the stock gauges are always on. do you have any better pics of where you went thru the firewall? its just the one set of wires from the boost sender right? and then the other set i plan to wire to the fuses, as i am mounting this on the steering column..

Hey Rob,
Yeah it's a bummer that they don't dim but I have never thought I needed to. I have my brightness set at one click from the brightest setting for the OEM gauges. With that setting, the Prosport's match very well. During the day they are bright enough to see and at night they blend perfect with the dash still... As far as the firewall, I still think that going through the drivers side wheel well is the easiest spot to go. The spot I used is easy to get to but almost impossible to get through. About a half inch behind that grommet I used is the heater box, so if you are to go through you have to make a sharp right turn down towards the gas pedal. The other kicker is that in between the back side of the grommet and the heater box is sound deadening material. If you want to try that way it could be easy if you get a coat hanger through easily. After 10 minutes of struggling I would take the wheel well off and go through the grommet under there. That way you will have a straight shot to the under dash and fuse box for wiring. With just the boost gauge, yes you will only have one small wire to go through the firewall. The rest of the wiring to the fuse .box will come from the back of the gauge Here is another view of the hole before I went through with the group of wires. ![]() |
