Default l33t NASIOC'rs I need your help....

....so over a year ago I traded in my speed3(stage 2 Cobb Accessport) for my 2008 STI and DID NOT un-marry the tuner from the ECU. stupid, I know. I was so excited about getting into the STI i completely forgot about it.
all last summer I searched the VIN from the speed3 and found it popped up at a few dealers in the MAIC region(prolly went through a couple auctions before finding an end buyer). I tried contacting the dealer that it was supposedly last at but NEVER ONCE had someone at the dealer answer a call....so i couldnt drive down for a "test drive" and unmate it and hand the keys back with 40 less hp=(

so here i am now, with a useless tuner and a VIN trying to find the car so I can contact the new owner(hopefully its still on the road) and sell it to them or unmate and sell it outright.

does anyone have any way to search a VIN, whether DMV or insurance system, that can look up a vehicle's registered location with its Vehicle ID#?

JM1BK34L971730681 is the VIN, if you want to keep your super secret skills a super secret, feel free to pm me.

Thanks in advance for the help(hopefully someone can!)

Try posting this in the Engine Management forum. They might have a solution that won't require you finding your old car. Or contact Cobb, see if they can help you. Good luck.

Cobb will give you a $200 trade in credit for it iirc.

I don't have all the details but this may help:

http://www.cobbtuning.com/info/?id=3846

It appears as though it is for the V1, but I don't think it would hurt to check to see if you were eligible for a credit on a new AP, if you wanted to go that route.
