Default Silverline Auto in Portland, OR

Hey OR guys/girls I've got a friend that's looking to buy a 2005 white STI from Silverline auto down there in Portland and he wanted me to ask if anyone on here has bought a car from them and if so how'd it go? Most of us have had our share of bad dealership experiences so he just wanted to know if it's a good place to go before he makes the drive down from WA. Thanks!

Also if any suby owners down there wanna go inspect the car for him that would be an amazing favor for him. He doesn't expect that but if anyone offers it would be greatly appreciated!

i wouldnt really consider silver line a dealer.... they buy wrecked cars and make them look as if they were not in a wreck and sell them.

i have never bought a car there, only parts. personally i would not buy a wrecked car...

I wouldn't have a problem buying a rebuilt car as long as it was rebuilt properly and I was given a big discount. The problem is reselling it will be a pain, just try looking up prices of branded title vehicles. The prices they charge for rebuilt STIs are way too high. You can probably find a used sti on here or on craigslist for a similar price with a clean title, or a branded title sti for much less.

I bought my Wrx from Leo at Silverline, and have had no problems with it. They were easy to deal with, and cut me a pretty good price. If you search you will find some other threads with this same exact question.

Matt Peck built my WRX, and it has been totally reliable, and wicked fast. Almost bought an STI from silverline. I would go for it. He's sold over 1000 STI's. That speaks for itself.

I bought my beater sti from Leo, it's a great car- it did come with a turbo-back exhuast and intake with no tune- as the previous owner must have unmarried it- an AP fixed that quickly though.

The guys down there are all very nice, and as long as you don't mind the salvage title, it's a good deal.

I'd definitely buy another car from them! Unfortunately, I can't afford the lambo...

Rallitek is very, very close to Silverline. Have Rallitek do a used car check before buying.

I went to silverline one day to check on something they had posted on craigslist.
Needless to say my first impresions were it was a total russian chop shop. I wouldnt buy a whole car from there.

Before left some guy tried to get me to buy his wrx wheels. His was very admit I would like there because wheels don't have VIN numbers

Yeah I meant adamant. T9 fail.

Make sure you know exactly what kind of accident the STI was in. Get a good independent Subaru shop to inspect the STI. Make sure the sale price does reflect the Salvage Title diminished value. I think $15 -16k is more realistic price for that STI with 70k miles.

Other than that I have no problems with Rebuilt Title cars.

I bought my 06 Sti with 60K miles on it from them and it runs great. They are honest people and they do great work. They specialize in subaru and know what they are talking about. They do ask a little bit much for their cars but with some good negotiating skills you can get yours for for less. I got my 06 STI for 16800. Besides my rebuilt 16K STI is just as fast as someones Clean title 23K car... Granted they are harder to sell.

I had the same impression...I bought my swap from them and the price was right (to my knowledge) but it was missing a couple of parts and it took a few MONTHS to get a gas pedal, wastegate, and O2 sensor shipped all of 100 miles.....

I questioned this last time. If you do the math this is pretty much impossible.
In 6 years (since 04 when the STi was released). is 167 a year( do you really think he sold 167 STis in 2004 when it was released?). That would mean he's sold an STi every other day. For 6 years.

I dont believe much of the stuff that comes out of matt's mouth. "yeah dude i drive race cars, blah tool blah, i drive cars into walls like its no big deal"

but their cars do end up looking nice when they're finished. I'm considering buying a car from them in a few months. But not because matt is a good sales guy.

If he can price salvaged cars at close to clean title prices, and stay in business then he is a good salesman.
