Default Axxis Metal Master or Ultimates?

Looking for new front and rear pads for my 06' 2.5i. Getting new blank rotors and the 2 pads was looking into were the pbr axxis metal masters and the ultimates. Really just want a pad thats not gonna destroy the rotor. I don't care if they dust of not, just want a set thats gonna give me good pedal feel.

I had the ultimates on my 05 RS and they were awesome! The only hing I hated was the dust.

It seemed that the metal masters dusted almost as bad as the ultimates and grabbed just a little better than stock. They didn't grab as well cold, and faded fairly easily. If you are going to do any kind of spirited driving i would go the ultimates.

has any one tracked the ultimates at an HPDE? The date is scheduled for 4/16/2010 so it shouldn't be too warm in new england that time of year.

i believe its around 4 x 20min sessions.

ultimates are not a HPDE/high speed pad, it just doesn't have the ability to withstand the heat especially on a 3000+lb car.

I don't have much experience to compare different pads, but I've been to 5 HPDES and they worked fine for me at my last 2or3 track days. 6 20-min sessions. I only get up to about 90mph on the longest straight, so its not excessively high speed. My first 2-3 were on stock pads.

I actually did an HPDE last fall on stock pads all around and they aren't confidence inspiring

i'm gonna give those stoptechs a try, good reviews and light on the wallet, cheaper than oem from stealership. I've got ultimates in the rear with a H6 upgrade, so i guess as it sits now, its got a rear brake bias due to higher friction pads w/more rotor in the rear.
