Default Can I slap a new ACT disc in my ACT press. plate?

Right now I have a perfectly functioning (~40k miles) ACT HDSS clutch. My car will (hopefully) be making more power soon. Can I go ahead and pick up a new release bearing, pilot bearing and a different ACT disc and use my same pressure plate? Judging by the ACT site, it seems as if that will work fine. I just wanted to ask before I ordered something.

Also, the price difference is massive. $800 vs. $200 for the "rebuild."

depends on the condition of the pressure plate but if it's good then that would be fine. i recently took one off my car and it had heat spots everywhere and cracks. =(

I'd ask a reputable dealer of ACT. The new disc may be advertised to hold more power than your current one but remember that the pressure plate is what applies the clamping force so you may not get the desired clamping force if your new disc is suggested with the use of a different pressure plate.

Thanks guys. I gave ACT a call and they said that what I proposed is a perfectly acceptable upgrade. All their discs are the same dimensions, so you can pretty much pick a pressure plate and pick a disc and go to town. Apparently the 6pk will have a shorter life, but grabs harder. I don't mind the shorter life if I can get away with $140 disc from time to time.
