Default Custom Tune: 2009 WRX, FMIC, E85 - 332whp/391ft-lbs

We've been working with this customer for a little while now. First we tuned the car on E85 with a basic stage 2 setup, but the car would not pass 300whp/340ft-lbs and would not respond to boost changes above about 18-19psi. We figured the tiny WRX TMIC was likely to blame, so the customer made the switch to a TXS FMIC and we went out again to see what she'll do.

The customer requested a safe tune, so we didn't max anything out but still made some very good, consistent power.

Event: Custom Tune/Road Dyno
Location: Equilibrium Tuning - Fairfield, CA
Ambient Temp: 55 degrees Fahrenheit
Elevation: ~180ft above sea level

Car: 2009 WRX Sedan
Tuner: ED @ Equilibrium Tuning
Peak HP at RPM: 332whp @ 5130RPM
Peak Torque at RPM: 391ft-lbs @ 4000RPM
Target Boost: 22-23psi peak
Fuel: E85
Engine/Power Modifications:

- TXS FMIC/TXS Intake
- Catless TBE
- Hallman MBC
- DW1000cc Injectors
- Walbro
- EQ Tuning Custom Tune

Here's the chart:

*** Standard Dyno Chart Disclaimer ***

This software reads low and should be compared to the lower reading mustang dynos. Here are some proven numbers and trap speeds for reference:

Stock 2.0l WRX - 155-165whp
Stock STI - 215-225whp

265-275whp - 107-108mph traps
300-310whp - 112-113mph traps
325-335whp - 115-116mph traps
380-390whp - 122-123mph traps

Thanks

Oops... Its running DW1000's. First post updated

I'm sure we could have broken 400ft-lbs, but not sure if it had any more peak power left in it. Kinda hard to say for sure without actually trying

I didn't get to do a pull on this particular car in stock form, but I another 09 WRX made 220whp bone stock which is about the same power I see out of most stock STI's.

Thanks

On 91 this car makes about 280-285whp on my software.

This tune is definitely on the safe side. We're not pushing boost or timing hard at all .

Thanks

timing i understand because of E85 properties, but 22-23psi isnt pushing a VF52 to far?

This is my car. I plan on going to a 1/4 mile track in April to see what it runs. I will report back the times and any trans issues.

Ed, I am very happy with the work you and your crew performed on my car. You guys rock. I will be calling you soon to schedule appointment for motor & Tran mounts install. The stock ones cant handle this torque.

He works there, owns an STI I think, does car prep type stuff. He gave me and my kid a ride to BART yesterday when we dropped the car off... I forget his name... he said "my friend is doing an E85 tune right now at EQ in Fairlfield..." then recommended EQ for me when I get the car back and set-up... words out on the street...

OK, enough mushy stuff...
