Default Clutch Work in Austin

Anywhere other than Subaru that anyone would recommend for new clutch install ?

Thinking about doing it myself. It just went out of warranty (36000+miles).

It has been slipping some since 19,000 miles and was a 1,600 mile demo when I got it, but subaru said it was fine when I brought it in slipping. I should have pushed it then to have it replaced.

I started autocrossing it a little bit after that, and have maybe 6 races on it, and would slip a little every race, but is slipping pretty badly daily driving now after the last race, so I'm not going to blame Subaru at this point(much), but don't want to throw them any business. Due to the issues with this car overall, this will definitely be my last Subaru. (That and the whole 08' to 09' fiasco)

If you want to try and attempt it yourself:

It was not that hard if you have a good general knowledge of cars.

I just finished the Diff on the BMW, and so am likely overly confident, because, well, it's just a diff.

I did buy a Tranny adapter for my jack to help with the diff, so I have that.

I think I am going to do it myself, so thanks for the DIY post. I need to re-install my Perrin FARB, and get a short shift kit anyway, so I can get a bunch of stuff done at once.

I'll make one for the 08' as I go and post it here.

Good luck! PM with question if you can't get them from the DIY or the forum.
There were 2 hiccups I had with mine. The pins in the front axles only come out one way so if you are having a hard time spin them and hammer it from the other side. Also I had a hard time getting one of the bolts out of the shifter linkage. I noted this in the thread.

I have had 2 ppl in my area contact me about it and did it them selves with not issues. Should take you anywhere from 6 to 12 hours depending your skill level.

Just don't forget the Fork Release Pin you have to pull it!!!!!!!!11 The trans will not come out at all unless you pull that pin!

Is 08 push or pull?

If push, ignore the pin comment.

We had mine out in 3 hours, but had a nice electric impact

Good luck

And word of advise, If yours went out that fast, make sure the pedal and slave have full travel. Could be a sign of one not fully releasing <shrug>

haven't had the time to do it, the Rex has been in the garage for a month or two now.

found the Excedy OEM on Amazon for $260.00 Can't beat that.

Did the Diff, and suspension in the BMW. The entire cooling system in the Wife's POS Impala, and now this.

This is all working up to an s50 or LSx swap into the M3/25is next year. If I get all that done, I'm applying for my shadetree designation.
