My sold '90.

The car.

Turboed, suspension, etc. This was the car that started Miata.net. Bought if from the owner of Miata.net when he bought a '99 or '00. It was stock when I bought it.

I shouldn't have sold it.

Flush headlight conversion for the 90-97. Looks pretty sharp. The GB price is $249 plus find-your-own light source (hellas from rallylights).

I have a deposit in. I'm not 100% sure I'm gonna keep them, but I'd like to try it.

looks good.

I have wanted to get the 2001+ SE projector lights. Although I have not looked into what is required to do it or how much they cost.

I have started my turbo kit savings fund. Its going to take a while.

ok, lucky me I got some birthday cash money.

I might be ready to do my first mod. Should it be:

1. hard dog rollbar
2. swaybars (I'm thinking maybe the racing beat stage 1 suspension)
3. The flying miata buttefly brace
3. t3rbo (meaning put the money away and save it for a turbo later)

(in order of my first impulses on what to do)

If you're not going to track it, don't bother with the rollbar, IMHO. It just adds weight for autox.

For the 93, the front shock tower brace and the LCA brace (RB) were both really useful for making the car not feel like it was exploding over bumps.

Ed's Koni/RB combo is really nice, too.

car came stock with a front tower brace. Most special editions did.

All 94+ miatas came with a stock LCA brace (not to say the RB one isn't better, but its not going to be the huge difference you felt going from no brace to a brace).

2001+ came with a brace similar to the butterfly brace. So I think for bracing thats probably where I should look. For the uninitiated, this is the brace:
http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?...920%20%2090-97

I will eventually get the car to the track, but who knows, just not a priority for me right now. But I have heard you get a lot of stiffening from the roll bar, and it looks great. Was that not how you felt about it?

I found out that the 01+ lights don't fit perfectly in a 99/00. It leaves a small gap at the bumper. boooooooooooo
example:

So if ed likes his koni/RB setup, thats great as thats what I plan to do. Get the springs and sway bars now, and pick up koni's in 10k miles when my bilsteins are at their end.

4 pt. rollbar makes a huge difference in stiffyness as did the front strut bar. I was really surprised at how much flex the Miata originally had. When you jack up the car, you get what looks like 1/2" flex in the frame.

I should add that the car is a dedicated track car (9k front springs/6k rear, rollbar, no radio, mostly stripped interior etc)

Ah, I knew the car had gotten stiffer over the years, but didn't really know details. Personally I couldn't tell the difference the rollbar made, because I had the seats/harnesses/rollbar put in about three weeks after I bought the car, and hadn't gotten a chance to drive it hard. I also was still on the stock suspension / sways, and was on all season tires.

My goal was more or less to reproduce this car:
http://www.racingbeat.com/90products.htm

The '99 equivalent:
