The only reason he'd be towed by the university in a pay lot is if he had several outstanding parking tickets or never moved his vehicle for a few days.

According to university policy, they don't tow you out of the paid lots until you have 10+ unpaid citations.

I did run into the guy who owns the car though, and he told me that he came out just before they were gonna drag it off and paid them.

I havn't dropped in here for a while. Just thought I would mention a lot of Subaru's from the area are meeting up and going to Subaru Master the Mountain at Wisp this Saturday. We are leaving the Sunoco Station by Urse Dodge right off 68 exit 7 at 10:45 am.

This is all being organized over on http://wvsubarus.com in case any one on here hasnt heard of that forum.

Default New Subaru

Hi all. I just wanted to introduce myself around here. I am new to this forum, but have been in the Morgantown, WV area for a while. Anyway, I just got a 2012 WRX 5-door (just off the truck) and I'm about to go pick it up.

This is my first Subaru and I was wondering if anybody has any general ownership tips to share on this model?

Also, I am looking for a reasonably priced step to offer some paint protection in high risk areas. Anybody have any experience with DIY clear bra kits? I have done clear bra on headlights and mountain bikes without any trouble, but I have never done a car hood. I was thinking of doing the front 18" or 24" since this is where I notice chips most on my other cars. Anyone around here have any experience?

hey man. welcome. man, tough waiting on that truck, huh?! what color?

regarding the clear bra... man - I wish I would have inquired as you have. I waited and then didn't order mine until after the car was here. Tony's street dreamz ordered it and it arrived a few months later (but it was winter at that point). Thus they had to wait until spring to apply it. They tried, but the few paint chips that I had acquired made the job look terrible and they refunded the money. Personally, I wouldn't try a DIY, but I would definitely get one on there asap either way. Once it's chipped up, no good. At least do the hood yourself. I couldn't see doing the bumper - it's too complicated.

Simple things I've done...
1. Cobb Tuning AccessPort - this is a must have! Even if you just go stage 1. Among other things, the red line is increased to 7000rpm and you definitely will notice the overall increase in power.
2. Window tint done at Auto Pro in Westover. I think I got the 15 tint. not legal, but looks great. $100. The guy who did it (I think he's the owner) seemed like a jerk, but he did a great job.
3. Add ons: SPT boost gauge, extended arm rest, body side moldings, auto dim mirror, Pioneer AVIC Z120BT head unit, pioneer speakers
4. You obviously can't run your summer tires all year. I just bought a set of winter treads along with some nice rims from tirerack.com. Easier to switch out spring / winter this way.
5. I did a HID swap on my headlamps / fogs. I love the result and nobody flashes me. The cut off is actually better than the stock HID's in my wife's enclave.

That's all I can think of at this point. I've had the car for a year and a half and love it. Enjoy your ride man.

Mmm that's nice but idk if I can pull it. I don't think the 245s would fit anyhow. It's a 2000 be. I was looking at getting the gt 16in Bbs for 260 and then doin Goodyear payments for a decent tire. I'd really like some of those 17in 05 legacy shaved 5 spokes.

Sorry for late reply- had the site crash then got busy with work.

Anyway, still haven't picked up the car yet. I was getting the factory sub installed (the under-seat one) and have been too busy to get it. Now I am on vacation, so I have some time to set it up right!

It is a dark grey mettalic and I requested one with the short shift kit and STI shift bushing. BTW, would you happen to know how I can verify that the shift bushing was actually installed (i.e. can I just pull up the shifter dust boot and see it?)

The clear bra should be coming in today, too. I will try and post some photos of the install.

As far as other mods go, this isn't a track car, so I can't do anything that messes up the warranty. I have another car for that sort of thing...

Just on the way to go pick it up!

To check the shifter bushings you'll have to climb under the car. You won't have to remove anything but there's a few video tutorials online you can use for reference.

I'd be down for one of these again. I made it to the very first one and have not been back. We should try and work in a cruise somewhere and back as opposed to just sitting.
