I don't need a **** ton of power, just enough to make a difference.

Hmm, I have a extra TD04, would it be best to port and polish?
Would that even be that beneficial to spool time?
Plus, would tuning also help when it comes to getting a faster spool?

^yes but it will take away from the motor power at that instance, you can make the exhaust denser buy dumping more fuel but if its greater than RBT (rich best torque)the motor will loose some power. im sure seth can add to this.

vf-34 or vf-39 cheap and fast spool. Wouldn't bother with port/polish for what you asking for. Keep the pipes short and stick with a TMIC and spool should be fine. Dumping fuel or screwing with timing to help spool times is a round about and not very consistent method, results tend to vary and you pay a price of power loss somewhere along the line.

There is a balance between power and spool. Before you buy or decide on a turbo try riding with or driving cars that will be simular to your future setup. Go with what you like.

A woodchuck would only chuck as much wood as Chuck Norris would allow it to, because the woodchuck shares Chuck's name. Therefore, Chuck must punish it and make it chuck as much wood as Chuck can. So, a woodchuck would chuck as much wood as Chuck could.

Texas Ranger Ninjas know all, do stronger wastegate springs mean less duty cycles on wastegate trickers to obtain more boost??

Yes the closer you are to your target boost the less work the wastegate and solenoid have to do and less wastegate duty cylces in the tune. It also makes things a lot easier to tune and control.

You will also be able to hold more boost towards redline IF your wastegate was pushing open from to much back pressure. << This is not always a good thing to do however since there is a chance you may to over spin a turbo and blow a lot of hot air as well as raise EGTs.

Hey so i Have around 2000$

I have a stage 2 sti currently that is tuned. I am looking for some more power and want to go with a bigger stock location turbo/infectors/fuel pump and then do intercooler etc.... down the way. Im looking for a pretty fast spooling turbo as this is my daily driver in canda Winter/summer. I do the odd Auto X, stratotech lapping and even the 1/4 mile. Just want something I will notice a difference with and be happy with the power. Should I go with something like a 20g Or stick to 18g/EVO III 16 G? Advice ? Thanks !

I was same boat and went with 20G. Glad I went with it now. Spools enough at autoX unless course is really tight. And runs decent in 1/4 as well.

2.5XTR..We installed the one for Bradfield ...It spools faster then my DOM3 and makes the same power as a DOM3. I can also get you one for a killer price or any other turbo.

20G is also a nice choice and the STI's seem to take to them very well.

Keep in mind without an upgrade to the TMIC or going with a FMIC your going to have a major air flow issue until you do.

I will be upgarding to front mount not to long after. So the 20g vs the 2.5 xtr. Would I also need a new downpipe sonde mine is his and it isn't bellmouth? What kind of numbers would I be looking at with Turbo injectors fuel pump?

If you do the FMIC, turbo, injectors, etc, we know you can do low 12's. Octane (fuel quality) will be your road block after that. You will need water injection or a race gas tune to get into the 11's. You will also be pushing your motor to its internal limits.

Ya After the front mount I will most likely get the motor built but that will come later. What are a good injector to go with for the 20g ?2.5 xtr ? Would a evo 3 16 g not be to
much of a difference compared to stage 2?

I would skip the 16g at this point. It would be an upgrade but you would grow tired of it quickly.

DW 740CC side feeds are good injectors and will be more than enough for your requirements. If you plan to build up later and break the 400whp level then 850cc might be better especially if your not running water/meth, more fuel required.
