Haha better hurry I'm already looking at two built motor jobs this month and next.

Just be careful, Once you step over the 350+ line on your motor it only takes a little blip to knock out a ring landing. The water injection if used as a safety net helps a lot though.

All good times!

It will be an assembled short block right? So I buy it and drop it in and put all my stuff on it?

Or is it just a short block kit that comes with the parts and we have to assemble?

It will depend on your choice of pistons and additional mods.

The short block comes fully built with all factory STI internals. The idea is if you want to upgrade say the pickup tube, oil pump, and pistons then this is a fairly simple deal. Depending on the piston choice there are some basic drop in choices and require only a bore check for spec and if out of spec some light machining. Valley machines has the same equipment ADB does but at a fraction of the cost(another saver).

Remember were talking about a block that takes care of the normal weak points over stock, there is a price to pay for cheap though. This engine won't be spinning 9500rpm and make 600WHP+, it will however be very strong and reliable as a 400WHP daily driver with the right supporting mods.

I have not personally chipped an RS of that year. Depending on what your trying to do mods wise there are different options. The most a chip with no mods will do for you is maybe pickup a few HP. Take a look at your basic power adds like headers, exhaust, intake, etc first. I know the 2005 2.5rs can be reflashed and tuned via laptop but I don't think any prior years can be. More research required here.

So it it normal,
that i never see my MAF volt higher then 4.6v?
Also i noticed my A/F ratio at WOT is always at 11.0 but idles at 14.6.

I have noticed that my MAF grams have hit 302, but normaly is around 290 ish..

From what I have heard. 14.7 AFR is stioch and is right for idle. You want richer at WOT. Mine is tuned for 10.5-11 at WOT to be on the safe side.

Sounds ok to me 11:1 is about the best you can get on our gas and still run decent boost and timing. More power can be had taking it up to 11.8 or so but you would have to run a fuel additive or water injection to really benefit. A neat trick is you can estimate the WHP based on the "G/s" air flow measured on the WRX/STI. So your car is doing approx 290WHP.

Oh..You should see 14.7 during cruise and idle. That is what the ECU is tuned to do by default.

I am going to be buying a downpipe and cobb AP2 to go stage 2 pretty soon. in the long run i am thinking of a blouch 18G but not anytime soon cuz of money. Will i need injectors for stage 2? if not will it help if i put them in before i get the car protuned? also what size would be good for an 06 wrx? 750cc?

You do not specifically need injectors for a Cobb stage 2 however the stock ones will be basically running at max. 750CC would be more than enough for an 18G even at high boost. If your going to get protuned you could save a lot by skipping the AP2 unless you need to switch maps all the time on the fly.

im going stage 2 over the summer but im going to have to save up money to get the bigger turbo. i will probably get it protuned after i go stage 2 so i wont need injectors for that? and then when i get the bigger turbo i should get 650 or 750cc injectors and then get it tuned again probably. i guess what im asking is what kind of supporting mods would help with stage 2 before i get it protuned the first time and also be good for when i get the bigger turbo later on?

One step colder plugs, a better fuel pump and a lighter front pulley come immediately to mind. A set of gauges (to see what is going on in there). I did all of this folowing the same pathway you have outlined for yourself.

Each part and its specs will depend on exactly what others parts are installed and what your goals are. The size of the injectors is based on how big of a turbo and more important how much air will you be moving, what is your goal WHP, etc. 750cc are good and at that size your fine well above 400WHP although your stock internals engine is not. 750cc will still idle ok as well.

right now i have a catback exhaust, cobb intake and i do have gauges. Lighter front pulley and fuel pump before injectors? I just dont wanna go stage 2 and get it tuned and then when i go to buy a bigger turbo down the road have to get a bunch of supporting mods that i could have put on the stage 2 and help my car be as good as it can at stage 2 because id rather drop 400 on injectors and it help stage 2 and it also be good for the bigger turbo down the road. Basically i want to do everything i can with the stage 2 on the stock turbo cuz its gonna be a while until i can get a bigger turbo and i want to be pushin as much hp as i can until then.

Your tuner will have to tell you if your injectors need to be replaced or you could log fuel injector duty cycle... There are no direct power gains with bigger injectors. Again a Cobb stage 2 off the shelf tune does not call for them.

okay so i will wait to determine whether or not i need injectors when i get it tuned. Should i get the lightweight front pulley when i go stage 2? im assuming injectors and fuel pump will be good when i get the bigger turbo. Will an sti tmic be sufficient for a blouch 18g or 20g? I dont want to have to get a fmic, cut my bumper, and have more turbo lag. To your question about my whp goal, Id like to get to about 300.

STI TMICSTI Stock turbo (VF39) or 18g (smaller version)
650CC injectors
Walboro fuel pump
Pro-Tune
^^ This will do 300WHP on your wrx.
