Question Exhaust question

Will a new age WRX mid pipe and muffler fit on a GC8? I've done a search and it seems really sketchy. From what I could found is that one of the hanger on the mid pipe is off. Will the flange fitting the cat fit and how about the length?

Thanks.

No it will not fit directly. The hanger on the mid pipe is ok, it's the hanger right before the muffler that is wrong. The flange to the cat section is clocked wrong too.
The good part is that all the piping has the correct bends in them and will fit nicely. All you have to do is modify the front flange and rear hanger. The only thing I can't remember is if the lenght is correct, where your cat ends and where the wrx mid pipe starts. Somebody else here should know.

This mid pipe looks a bit weird. The flange that connects to the cat is different from the GC8. I think this is the flange the connects to the cat.

Actually, the flange looks normal. The flared part is for the donut gasket that allows for flexing at the joint. Your RS has exactly the same thing except the flared part is built into the flange. In your picture, the flare is seperate from the flange. The two flanges do not mate/touch each other anyway, they are held together by two spring loaded bolts. The donut is what seals the system.

I think you'll be alright if you can find somebody to do some minor cutting and re-welding.

Update: Tried to put the wrx mid pipe and exhaust on and the mid pipe was 2 inches shorter than stock and the muffler hanger was facing the wrong way. I'm going to cut the mid pipe and extend it and turn the hanger around.

Edit: The mid pipe was a 2.75 inch custom pipe so the flange that fits onto the stock cat doesn't fit too.
