Default 265's on a 9 inch wide rim, to big?

tried to get some answers on the tire section but seems like the motor sports guys would know better. want to know if its going oversized or just right?

Oversized in my opinion. I would want a 9.5 or a 10 if you could swing it. Also depends on the tire

ok just checking.. i dont really have that much fender space.. i just ordered some new 255's wondering if i should call and get them in 265's instead. but i think i'll do one more year on 255 dunlops. from what i read.. its about the equivalent of a 255 on a 8 inch wheel.

I would be comfortable going to a 255 on a 9, but 245's are about perfect. I'll be running 255's on a 9 on my s2k

I would think that 265's on a 9 inch rim would be close enough. I run wide 275's on a 10 inch rim and it's right on. A 9.5" rim would probably be better, but the .5" isn't going to make much of a difference.

A lot depends on the tire as well. Some, like the Dunlops, run wide. On my 18x9's, I have a set of 245 RT615's that I had kicking around... big time stretch. Not a good fit. I have a set of 265 AD07's about to go one that should (eyeballing) fit quite well. I think a 265 set of Star Specs would be monster bulge and way oversized.

On my track wheels, I have 255 R888's on a 18x9 wheel. Those have a bit of bulge too since they run wide. Meh, there needs to be a better standard .

well here you're compairing an outated street tire (RT615), and updated UHP tire (ADO7) and a r comp (r888) That is why you are getting the varience in sizing. R comps usually run wide, and I think the move has been to the high side of sizes recently on the higher performance street tires
