I'm pretty new to this car and haven't really initated with any sound installs besides the headunit but I'm looking to utilize some of my SQ setup from my old car with some new stuff as well.
From my old car I have the following equipment Alpine CDA-9887 *already installed Phoenix Gold ZX600ti - 600x1 rms Phoenix Gold 475ti - 75x4 rms PPI PCX4125 100x4 rms MB Quart QSD216 6.5" components Phoenix Gold Ti Basscube 2x Image Dynamics IDQ10's subs and of course all the wiring Basically what I'm looking to do is see if I can maybe utilize some of my old equipment and buy new stuff as well. My ideal setup would be use the MB Quarts as the front soundstage with maybe a smaller amp that would fit under the passenger seat that would provide power enough for possibly those and some rear fill speakers. For the trunk I was thinking of getting that Audio Integrations subwoofer box and the amp rack and I think I would be fine with 1 subwoofer truthfully. For the sub amp I could possibly utilize one of my old amps for that and place it in that amp rack. I really need suggestions on - a good amp that fits underneath the passenger seat (for the highs) - a good 10 or 12" sub that would compliment my system that would need 600w or less (I don't really want to use IDQ's) - suggestion if i need rear fill or not (or is that just really a matter of personal taste)

Yeah I've been working on that setup for a while. The 600 I bought brand new a few years ago and works very strong, ran perfect with the 2 idqs. The 475 is sorta damaged on top and rusted so looks like crap but I haven't been able to find another top for it. I'm just trying to figure out a good way to setup this car and I figured either using the AI amp rack or under the seat configuration. I was unsure if either would fit under the seat. The IDQ's are the v2 4ohm. I just was thinking of going with something different, smaller possibly that would be easy to manage, maybe even a 5channel amp to run the whole deal.

It seems like you have a pile of stuff already so why not just toss it in and use it?
Are you looking for something different/better? In which ways? What aspects do you want to keep? What aspects do you want to change? Is there a budget along with this change? Planning to sell off what you don't use to offset costs? |

How about a JL Audio 10W7 in a JL prowedge box for a GREAT price? Check your PMs...

1. I really like sharp highs of MB Quart components except the lack of midbass drives me nuts, always wanted to look at possibly something else but I haven't had a chance to physically hear anything else. Now the Q series, I've never installed on my last car, so those are brand new and I'm not sure if they offer better midbass/midrange compared to the Premium series I was running before. 2. On another angle after taking those door panels out I noticed there wasn't that much space for crossovers so I'm guessing I'd have to install Q series crossovers elsewhere. That's going to be a challenge unless I run wire through the door. Not a big big deal. 3. I wanted to slim down my whole setup. I thought 2 10's was sort of overkill for me and I figured if I were to do it again I'd go 1 10 or 1 12 just a higher quality one. I don't really listen to that boomy bass I like lots of mellower stuff along with some hard rock, which is why I went for IDQ subs. Last setup took up my entire trunk and it was much much larger than the one in the WRX 4. I was thinking about just installing the amps under the seats so I have a whole trunk free. |
