so yes i've used the search feature, but haven't really gotten a clear answer.
i plan on doing a tail light swap on my 03 wrx sedan, with 04-05 tails. i heard you had to "TRIM" them to fit correctly. now is it the bumper or tail lights i have to trim? has anyone done this? any help would be appreciated. or pics to go a long would be sweet too.

Its the bumper. If you look at the 04-05 lights there is a little circle part that hangs down.

You actually dont need to trim them to fit our bumpers. If you get 04-05 (not sure if this is true with later years) tails, theres a small rubber peice of trim that you can pull off and itll fit the bumper without modification.

Those tail lights completely transform the car! So did it end up fitting with no problem?

^i got mine for a little cheaper than most($170), but i see most of the taillights going for like 200-250. and yeah i recommend going with the 04-05 tails, they just look so much better with the clear red crystal color compared to the 02-03's
here are some better pics of the tails: ![]() ![]() |

Here are mine. Just installed them a few days ago. I just did the JDM tails mod like 2 minutes ago.
Also, on mine I didn't cut or shave or modify anything. Just bolted them right in. They stick out a little bit at the bottom but it is not noticeable at all. Even when I tell people that they stick out they still cant figure out where.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I put 04 tails on my 03 wagon. Worked the same way as it's shown here with sedans. Slight protrusion, and you're the only one that notices it.
