Default 07 impreza 2.5i header/exhaust Question

I have an 07 impreza 2.5i 5spd wagon. I need to get headers and a cat-back system. I like the OBX headers/exhaust but cant seem to find them for the 06 07 years. I would like a direct bolt-on system that does not trip a CEL. can anyone help. thanks

converting to an 05 style catpipe and midpipe will give you the most options. if you are going for performance the obx or TWE EL headers are the best. If you want the rumble like the turbo cars have, UEL headers are what you want.

do some searches, the process and list of things you need to do either has been discussed many times.

chances are pretty good that you will get a CEL with either setup.

if i took my car to the exhaust shop with a WRX muffler. How far could i go with the exhaust to get the best performance and not get the ricer raspy sound?

without tripping CEL

There is no such thing as a "wrx" muffler per se. a muffler is a muffler. you will get the best sound out of your headers. and like raceface said, its up to you, you can go EL for a few extra hp, or the UEL for the sound and still a power increase over stock. I have a 2007 and i have the borla uel's, stromung high flow cat pipe, and apexi n1 catback. you can do the exact same set up on your car. I had my full exhaust for like 6 months before i got a CEL. And thats only bc my front o2 sensor is going bad. Regardless of what you do, with a full exhaust you will eventually get a CEL.

Borla replica UEL headers + Stromung catback

That should be stickied for anyone who wants boxer rumble + CBE for their 2.5i.

I just got a Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler for my car and have not done the headers yet, but the sound is incredible not to loud but nice and deep. almost like a lumpy v8

I currently have ebay UEL headers, rallisport racing trackpipe, oem centerpipe and turbo xs non fart can version axleback, you can't beat the sound!!!

My only suggestion is to go catpipe vs trackpipe, I had to have a local tuner modify the map on my ECU to remove the dreaded P0420 cat deficiency code.

If you go with UEL headers, you will need the cat section from a 02-05 to go with.

your best option would be to wait for the rallisportracing 06+ bolt on header due out here in the next few weeks

No need for AP. I was given an 07 2.5i for most of a saturday and developed a nice open source map for the car.

Power and torque are slightly bumped throughout the entire powerband, but its the throttle response that really does it.

The throttle response is 10x better than stock. I was amazed how fun these cars are when set up right!

I was reffering to how raliltek said the AP would be out "any day now" and it ended up taking like 9 months or something... no doubting the gains as there is much to be had. If I didn't already have some great headers I would wish these were EL's, though.
