I'm an unwilling member of the WFC

From my extensive look from a flashlight, I see only a blown and seized strut. The wheel might also need some duct tape....

We're all fine. I'm not the type to freak out about stuff.

I'm the most optimistic person on the face of the planet. Maybe other planets too....

**** happens. I'll fix it, upgrade what can and needs to be upgraded, and move on with life. I don't dwell on crap like this, though I'm a bit bummed.

On the + side-
1.that will give me time to test drive more rental cars, trying to find another car and truck to add to the stable
2. My struts were starting to squeak a bit anyways
3. Those wheels and tires were old and worn out, probably had at LEAST 800 miles on them
4. The chick at Enterprise around the corner from my house is smokin hot, and awesome, and smokin hot.

More fodder for the "the only wheels that break are Rotas" types.

What? Oh. No. Those aren't Rotas on my car.. I just put the sticker there so no one tries to steal my Advan RS'..
*backs out slowly*

Someone show me a wheel that will take that hit at 30mph, and I'll provide you with a lifetime supply of unicorns and pot brownies

I don't care what wheels they are, that was a cement manhole, 4' across, sticking up out of the earth a SOLID 8". Basically, run your car into a curb at 30 and tell me how that works for you

Did you run it at an angle, or STRAIGHT into the curb? The entire hit here was taken directly, by 1 wheel. I think it's asinine to think it should have soaked it up.

There doesn't APPEAR to be any damage beyond the strut and possibly bent swaybar, but I haven't gotten a real thorough look.

The steering and drivetrain works fine (again, it APPEARS) but the strut is bent and has seized to function.

$500 is too much for coilovers. I'm looking for some in the $250-300 range, they're as good as $3k Ohlins anyways...

No, but this will be yet another opportunity to upgrade. You'll come to find, as time goes on here, that I have some sort of magnetic attraction to wreckage. It's not that I drive like a butthole, just have a habit of getting into some unlucky situations, most of which are MY fault but not necessarily due to negligence

This wheel in 15X7 would take it.

I doubt any other would though

Give this man his unicorns, and I'll take the pot brownies.

In all seriousness, sorry about your mishap. It's good to hear you are optimistic and know it's a great reason to rationalize some upgrades.

Its a good thing that rim took a majority of the impact. I would have guessed strut tower damage otherwise. How'd you get her home?

I'm just guessing, but the unicorns and brownies come as a package generally...
