Default all gears are hard to engage

I was drivin my 03 wrx today just cruising not driving hard or anything. i went to shift from 2 to 3 and it didnt go into to gear right away. i pulled over and did a quick check and everything looked and felt ok. as i kept driving it became harder to go into any gear. even when parked and just trying to go thru the gears every gear is difficult to get into gear. about a year ago i had the tranny worked on and had some broken syncros replaced. i really dont want to go thru that expensive process again. any ideas or advice would help. possibly syncros? forks? gears? im planning on changing the gear oil when i get time this week. my gear oil only has maybe 2000 miles on it. i used redline 75w90ns. any help would be appreciated.

Clutch not fully disengaging?

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I'm having a similar problem. 03 WRX 53k miles stock 5MT, engaging all gears is hard and not smooth, but no grinding. I've tried with the car off and clutch engaged, and some gears, ie. 3-4, are completely blocked out.

This issue wasn't present for a few months after I bought the car, and shifting felt perfect. Then suddenly one day after a long cruise in the highway, I pulled over and shifting felt much harder to engage. Still drivable, but not nearly the same feel. I don't abuse the transmission, and have switched to Extra-S hoping to cure it, but it hasn't helped.

I was thinking clutch engagement wasn't releasing, but the issue shouldn't persist with the at off, right? My next thought is linkage, but what is it that could be off? Worn bushings or an actual adjustable mechanism?

Any help is appreciated.

*EDIT* One other note, sometimes when I'm at a light, I engage the clutch and try to shift to 1st, I get blocked out and have to reclutch one or twice before it will engage.

Clutch fluid is OK. Is there a way to adjust the linkage? I'm considering getting new bushings, but I wanted to see if there's anything to check on before ordering. Are there any clear signs of the bushings being bad? Seems strange that it so suddenly started, if its simply worn bushings...

I have the FSM's, but don't recall seeing anything in there about adjusting the shifter linkage. Maybe I just missed it?

Thanks in advance.

there is no adjustment but the pivot studs can break and teh bushings can get squished out of shape and the stock ones are garbage anyway

OK, good to know. I'm gonna go ahead and order some new bushings and hope that it makes things smooth again. Thanks for the help!
