OMGHi2U GT4 Time Attack Challenge - Spring of 2010

It's the Spring and time to dust off our PS2's for another GT4 challenge. This challenge will be done solely on street tires and there will be five cars driven on five different tracks.

**This challenge will end on Friday, April 30th at 12:00 midnight EST.**

The ground rules are as follows:

-Two tires on the tarmac at all times. The curbs count as tarmac, as do cobblestones and concrete and pretty much anything that isn't grass, dirt or gravel. If you've got two tires on the dirt and two tires halfway on the dirt, your lap is no good. If you need any clarification at any point, just ask. Just want it to be fair and more importantly, the same for everyone.

-No contact with the walls/fences/barriers whatsoever unless a "mulligan" is specifically allowed. If you touch a wall, the lap is dirty and doesn't count.

-All laps will be done in Gran Turismo simulation mode, in the 5 cr. Practice session. **Save your ghost replay in case you ever need to defend your integrity.**

-Oil changes, wheel changes and car washes are always allowed

-NO NITROUS, EVER. Nuff said.

-ALL Driver Aids must be disabled. NONE are allowed on any car.

-Ballast changes are up to you.

-Post your times in this format: TIME/DRIVER/CAR
example: 1'20.456/Chiketkd/NSX

SCORING FORMAT:

Points will be awarded to the top 8 as follows:
1st - 10
2nd - 8
3rd - 6
4th - 5
5th - 4
6th - 3
7th - 2
8th - 1

Modifications:
As this will be a street tire challenge, the mods will be limited. However, fear not, as the cars I've selected are some of the absolute best handling cars in the world! The ONLY allowable mods are as follows:
  • Semi-racing exhaust
  • Racing chip
  • Street Tires (S3)
  • Suspension (fully customizable)
As a reminder, no aero and turn off ALL driver aids (traction and stability control) for every car. We're going to drive these cars "au naturel"!!!

DRIVETRAIN LAYOUT: FF
CAR: Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98/'99 (you will have to buy this car used)
TRACK: Deep Forest Raceway (Original Courses)
NOTES: Many have called this the best handling FF car of all time. Unfortunately it's only available as a used car in GT4. However, they do come up pretty regularly, so keep your eyes open for one!

1. 1'29.846/jl05sti
2. 1'31.450/Chiketkd
3. 1'33.920/import111

10.

DRIVETRAIN LAYOUT: FR
CAR: Mazda RX-8 Type S '03
TRACK: Seoul Central (City Courses)
NOTES: One car magazine declared the RX-8 the best handling car under 300K! Have fun revving this this svelte rotary to 9K rpms!

1. 1'03.692/jl05sti
2. 1'03.851/Chiketkd
3. 1'05.659/Robbie_B

10.

DRIVETRAIN LAYOUT: MR
CAR: Honda NSX Type R '02
TRACK: Tokyo Route 246 (City Courses)
NOTES: Easily one of the best handling MR cars ever made. The Type R version takes the "NSX" experience to an even higher level. Enjoy!

1. 1'47.088/jl05sti
2. 1'48.154/Chiketkd
3. 1'49.869/Robbie_B

DRIVETRAIN LAYOUT: AWD
CAR: Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nur (R34) '02
TRACK: Mid-Field Raceway (Original Courses)
NOTES: Many have considered the Skyline GT-R's to be the best handling awd cars ever made. With 100% of power going to the rear wheels, unless a traction-loss occurs, it's not hard to see why. The V-Spec R34 models came with the latest ATTESA ET-S PRO awd system with an active LSD in the rear. Despite its weight, this car can turn!

1. 1'17.429/jl05sti

8.
9.
10.

DRIVETRAIN LAYOUT: EV (electric)
CAR: Nike One 2022
TRACK: Seattle Circuit
NOTES: With 250+ ft-lbs of torque available right off idle, this car is a beast! The only mod you'll be able to do to this car is tires (S3) as it has no exhaust, engine or suspension to modify.

1. 1'34.998/jl05sti
2. 1'35.862/Chiketkd

Glad you can join us. Each one of these cars is exciting to drive in GT4. Definitely a great challenge to start on with.

You win the Nike One after completing the International A license iirc...

What I'll allow for the Nike One 2022, is as follows:

Switch to Arcade Mode and select Time Trial. Select the Seattle Circuit under "City Courses". Under the US flag, select Nike and then select the Nike One car. Change tire to Street: Super Soft. Once the track is loaded do not make any other changes to the car (can't change HP, weight, etc). You must run the standard car as is. You can still save your ghost in Time Trial mode and please do this.

P.S. Times are updated.

FWIW, the '98 Type R also comes up in "Used Car Showroom II" and makes an identical amount of power after an oil change and all allowable mods are performed as the '99 (218hp). So I'll add that as an additional model year Type R that can be purchased used.

My first time: 1'31.450/Chiketkd/Hype R

Finally figured out that the DC2 likes the softer side. So, expect a time tonight.

The front end does (maybe a 7-7.5K front spring), but the back end needs to be stiff to aid rotation in corners.
