Default Almost got a fix-it ticket

I was turning left (west) on del-mar from sierra madre (north) at the turn light. Little did I know there was a cop 2 cars back. I put a little throttle into the corner, then saw him back there (it was night) and drove at slowish normal speed. He gunned it around the car in front of him and did one of those sharp fast cut-ins right on my bumper. A few blocks later he turned on his lights.

Anyways, I was on my way to Akbar (I with my gf, with her mom and bro in the backseats.) He said that any modified exhaust is illegal and that I had to get it removed. I then told him that a modified exhaust was, in fact, legal as long as it didn't exceed a certain decibal range. (I think this is correct for CA law).

Anyways, he gave me his business card and told me to send him this info if I could find it and he let me go. Not too bad, but still a waste of time.

The following is off of the CA DMV site.

Dragon,

Consider yourself **EXTREMELY** lucky. I assume you got pulled over by one of San Marino's "finest," based on the location you mentioned. SM cops are real petty and are always looking for excuses to pull over modified imports that roll through their high-rent di$trict. I see guys on annoying Harleys and in Mustangs w/Flowmaster-type exhausts in the area all the time but have yet to see one pulled over.

I got pulled over a bunch of times in my old Integra in that area for nothing other than "fix it ticket" violations. My car was pretty much legit, w/a CARB legal, HKS exhaust. The cop even kept me on the side of the road 30 minutes until an "official vehicle inspection" officer showed up to give my engine bay and car the once over!? Even though I pointed out the CARB E.0. #'s and stickers for my MSD Ignition, DC Headers, and AEM CAI, the cops cited me for them anyways. Their explanation was, "Tell the judge about it." Talk about d#ckheads!?

I know not all cops are a#$es....I have several friends who are officers in S. Cal and in the Bay Area, and my uncle is a high-ranking official up north. But some are real nimrods! :monkey:

Peace

CL

Btw, Dragon, what exhaust do you have on your WRX?

My brothers friend got pulled over in his GSR for speeding. The cop made him pop his hood. He has dc headers, aem intake and other mods that are carb legal. The cop finally sited him with an aftermarket fuel pressre regulator. That is some BS.

Do you have to pop the hood at a cops requests?

next time, use this simple phrase to get the cop on your good side:

"hey, i pay your salary!"

works for me!
