Default Gregoris Subaru

Let me start off by explaing that I was originally purchasing a VW GTi 337, When I decided to look into getting a WRX. All opinons I got was the WRX was a superior car, so I decided to take a look. I wanted a PSM MT Sportswagon, My first step was to go to my closest dealer to take a look at the car, this was Manfredi Subaru in Brooklyn. There was a perfect looking WRB wagon in the showroom. The major critism of the Scoob was the interior, which I thought was pretty nice, and I really fell in love with the car. When I spoke with the salesman, who was very nice, he did not tell me what I wanted, the prices he gave were at MSRP and didnt want to buge. He also said he could not get a PSM MT wagon for at least another month.I was going to lease and he was giving me a price of 339/mon, with 4000 down + tax and tags. I decided to not put a deposit down, and to think more about it.
The Next day I was reading the NY Daily News, when I saw an add for Gregoris Subaru in Valley Stream. It listed the WRX sedan at about 2000 less than MSRP, with a lease rate of about 299/mon with like 3000 down including tax/tags. I decided to take a ride out there the next day to see what I could find. When there I met my salesman Craig Fernandes, he really new his ****, had pictures of his WRX plus a bunch of STI's all around his cubical. plus they had the exact car I wanted + one in WRB my second choice in color, they were parked right next to each other so I was able to compare. I was sold on the PSM, and decided to get my car ASAP. I spoke with the GM who was very nice, he laughed when I told him my story, because Manfredi called them the day before trying to get the car I wanted for me, he said he new I would find my way to them. They were also able to deliver my car three days later which was so sweet, as you all probably know. Anyway I was very satisfied with all aspects of the dealership so far except for the service dept. I wanted the alarm and it wasnt in when I took delivery, so I had to come back for instalation, they needed like four days before they could fit me in I am hoping to find a better service dept. in the area.

Cool

Hey man, I too was gonna buy a gti 337 but I decided on a WR blue wrx sedan. I too bought mine from gregoris. I didn't purchase my car from Craig, but I too spoke with him about future mods for the car. He pointed me towards Metric Subaru in Huntington. All I gotta say is I love my WRX!! I just installed my Carbon Fiber STI Side markers and my HKS BOV. Wooosh!!

Yeah well let me tell you about Gregoris. The sales dept was fantastic. Got me the car I wanted with the exact options. I had to wait 2 months but it was not their fault. When I went to pick up the car the dashboard was scrateched in 5 places from the mechanic installing the guage package (which was installed backwards facing the passenger). I brought this to their attention and they offered a carbon dash kit to cover up most of the scratches. When they were installing the carbon kit I had them install the upgraded speaker/subwoofer package. When taking the passenger seat out the mechanic hit the doorjam with the seat bracket and put a gash in the doorjam. He also put the door panel on the ground face down and scratched that in 2 places. He also cracked the trim pieces around the door handles on both front doors. When I showed the Service Manager (Bob Capillino) he said they did not do that. It went in with no damage, came out 3 hours later with the damage but they did not do it? He agreed that the trim pieces was their fault after talking with the mechanic but denied the other damage. I finally had to call Subaru about the damage and then I received a call from Bob telling me that I should make my complaints to him and not Subaru and that he does not want to see me or my car at his dealership again. I guess it was too much to ask to be able to bring my car in for service without it being damaged. I also got the feeling that they really do not know anything about the WRX. I am not going to say don't buy from them just do not under any circumstances use their service dept!!

Hmm.. very interesting...

I bought my new 04 wrx from them. I kinda wish I hadn't quite put my order down so quickly.

I called and got a quote (for a costco customer through their referral service) for a new 04 with the premium package of about $200 over their cost. When I got there to inquire further, I was redirected to Bob Izzo, who really didn't quite know a whole lot about the cars (I corrected him on several things and all I had looked at was the subaru website). Anyways, when I quoted the price to him that I got over the phone, he responded by looking aghast and muttering multiple times that I was "cutting into his profit" and that "it wasn't even worth his time to put in the order for this price." Needless to say, I felt a little bit of pressure in that I wanted to secure what I thought was a good price, so I put an order in (this was of course all my mistake). Note that this was the lowest price I had seen so far after shopping at like 3-4 dealerships.

I was not very pleased with his attitude and think this was very unprofessional of him. If his sales manager quoted a price over the phone, then he should honor that request no questions asked, no rude comments like that. If he has a problem with that, then that's an argument between him and his sales manager IMHO.

Anyway, I was not even offered a test drive. (I had already done one at a different dealer). When I picked up the car almost 9 weeks later (!!) they also seemed to have an inordinate amount of difficulty setting up my NYS insurance, which I am still a little puzzled about.

I didn't notice this until I got home - partially cause it had started raining outside and I didn't feel like getting too soaked, but there was a small ding in the hood (which is sort of hard to see unless you're looking at it at the right angle) and there was a scratch on the passenger side mirror. Oh yeah, the other thing is that they didn't quite install the armrest extension right. And what's with their service department? And get this, Bob had the gall to ask me to give him an excellent review on the customer satisfaction survey... yeah, right...uh huh... whatever. I don't think I'll be taking my car back there any time soon.

A totally different experience was had when I visited Grand Prix subaru in huntington. I met George Shappi there and he was very cool about letting me test drive (despite my telling him that it had been a long time since I had driven a stick), was very knowledgeable, and when I finally asked him, he gave me a very competative price, actually very slightly cheaper than what I got at Gregoris. This is probably where I would have bought my WRX if I hadn't already put the deposit down and where I will probably have it serviced.

Sorry about the venting, but that's my overall experience. I'm very happy with my Scooby, though, and it's been a blast to drive.

Angry The saga continues...

OK... so I get a call at work today from Bob who says (about a month after I've taken delivery of my car)

"You need to come in to sign new papers cause Subaru denied your Financing rate - they said that you have to pay 3.9% now instead of 2.9%... otherwise the repo guys are gonna come and take your car away and you'll lose your deposit that you already put down."

I'm like W T F???? I asked repeatedly before I ever signed anything what I had to do to get the 2.9% financing rate and was told repeatedly by multiple people that I would get this rate. So I ended up talking to Dave and was like W T F - you told me specifically and multiple times that in order to qualify for 2.9% I would have to start my insurance before the month ended (which I did) and that even if I did not pick up my car for a few days that it would be alright. And he starts giving me the same schpiel about how I have to come in and resign the contract and blah blah blah...

So I told him, well, if subaru refused the contract because of something that you did, then that's something that you need to work out amongst yourselves. I already signed the contract and this is what I expect to be honored...

so he says, ok, let me talk to Subaru and I'll get back to you.

I get home without hearing from him, so I give him a call to see what's up. Apparently he was able to fix it without me having to come back into the dealership to sign anything, but man, what an annoying day.

My $0.02 is that I will NEVER have my car serviced there and that God willing, I will NEVER buy another car from them ever again!!!

Thumbs down crooks

I was ripped off by Gregoris, who said they'd take care of charges on my old lease, then left me to make the payments. I since found out that the manager has a history of shady deals. I would avoid Gregoris at all costs.

Gregoris is definately shady. Their salesman don't know much about the WRX either. Grand Prix Subaru gave me the price I wanted on a 2004 WRX and I will be picking mine up in a few days.
